In other words, they don't think he's good enough.
or maybe, just maybe, they are fixated on utility players because they don't want to have a large group of specialist players to select and train...
..but I don't know what they are thinking...
Whatever it is, the thinking is flawed

When Sititi had his breakout season I thought ok, they're training someone to replace Ardie and move Ardie to 7 to replace Cane just don't know who their 6 is (perhaps it was initially supposed to be EB or Luke J).
But the loosies have gone backwards and I don't see what their plans are..

Iose I think has all the talent to be an all black. Would love to see what he can do at that level

Any semi-astute observer (including all our opposition) will have latched onto this.
Once a group of directors get an idea into their head they've found a magic bean, it's hard for them to let go. Too much capital invested in the bean before they've bought it.

That's a fascinating article - confirms a lot of what has been suspected.
Mainly that Mark Robinson has a lot to answer for. That simpleton has singlehandedly ruined NZ rugby.
Not just Mark Robinson. Scott Robertson knew exactly the snake-oil he was peddling to NZR - and amplified it by threatening to coach another country if he didn't get the gig.
Been prepared to support him as I've never believed all the problems were down to the head coach (unlike many), but if that article is right, he needs to go right now for deliberately misleading people..

He should have been allowed to fuck off.
Knowing him though, he probably would have stayed in his comfort zone at the Crusaders.

This. No one should be bigger than the ABs

Another quote from the article @tim linked to
But Robertson’s vision was never for him to undertake the tasks that most would agree constitute the role of head coach – setting the overall playing vision for the team and then overseeing the delivery of that plan. Instead, Robertson pitched himself as a culture coach, responsible for theming campaigns, communicating one-on-one with players to manage their expectations and career progression. As Robertson confirmed to the Herald this week in Cardiff, it is his assistant, Scott Hansen, who effectively operates in the role most would recognise as the head coach.the question needs to be asked that if Hansen had applied to be the head coach in 2023, would he have been given the role?Jesus.
Well, we can't call him Coach Jesus anymore as he doesn't, um, actually coach.

We are in trouble folks.
This from Kirk is encouraging. Sounds like he knows what he's doing.
“We’re not in the business of having sub-optimal processes. We would certainly seek to avoid that type of process in the future. I would very much hope not, certainly when I’m the chair.”
-
I'm a bit shocked at this
"“Grand Slams are tough,” Robertson stated. “They are incredibly tough. It's hard to do. We are just so disappointed. We put everything on it. There will be a lot of emotional people in the changing room.”If that game was the best they can do, the ABs are in trouble.
But if that article is implying a Grand Slam or bust, that wasn't my feeling. Hope they play well but I'm not convinced the general public expected a Grand Slam. If indeed, it was a "Grand Slam." -
@Victor-Meldrew I'm optimistic but Kirk. I think he's very able and quietly ruthless. Hopefully, he'll get rid of the bullshitters and the duffers in NZR one by one.
That said I was optimistic about Scott Robertson and look how that turned out.......

How are you getting these quotes? Is there a full transcript on site that I don't know about?

Why do i need overseas experience? I spent time over there as a player!' He lost me right there. Did he think he'd walk into international rugby thinking the opposition was the same level as the Waratahs and Force or something?
He was probably believing all the crap his fanboi's were posting in the media and rugby forums

In my experience, when a Chairman starts talking about the need for optimal processes and refers to specific ones, it generally bodes well.

I hope he has the balls to take the nuclear option if need be

Might be cheaper contract buy-out wise to give JJ or Joe the Assistant (i.e head ) coach gig and keep Coach Jesus on as de facto media manager

Yes I suggested that earlier. He wants to be a figurehead? Then make it so. And pick someone to rebuild the locker room

NZR should've kept the RWC 23 team.
In hindsight, yes. But the public would have lynched NZR such was the Razor-mania
