@antipodean He was pretty good in the Top 14.

Statistically he was one of, if not the worst centers defensively.

If he was so shit he wouldn't of been a finalist for Top14 midfielder of the year.

I'd like to see ENS at fullback, and hope he plays there for the Chiefs. That big left boot is a weapon on exits.

@Bovidae JRK, ENS, Love, Dmac and WJ at FB,
Tangitau, WJ, Narawa & Carter at 14
    LF & CC at 11

    def some good options.

Assuming Rieko plays mid-field in the NH, hopefully he comes back a more polished player, as Jordie did (initially) providing another option there too.

    edited to add options

His defence is not good. His ball security is not good. Work rate is good, and ball in hand he's really fucking good.

@taniwharugby I'd select Narawa over Carter myself.

@Bovidae shoot, forgot about him! Absolutely, add him to the list too.

Dmac & Love to add to FB options.

Just need to sort getting the ball out to them, without the defence at the same time

    1. Chay Fihaki (huge boot)

    Notes:

    1. No Beauden, bc he has an incomplete skillset for 10 (not a goalkicker; poor tactical kicker; not a great passer)

I like to think I'm an outside chance for broken record for my consistent railing against BB, but Fihaki is a loooong way outside the box.
I'd say he is considerably worse than BB in all the aspects that you are criticising BB for, and given he doesn't actually know how to play there I'd say that incomplete skillset is a given.

LF makes way too many mistakes to be in the All Blacks. Scrapes in on the wing maybe, but there are better options there too.

Misses tackles, awful ball security, the wingers just wouldn't get the ball - which apparantly is RI's big problem yet look how quick the wingers got the ball in the weekend.

How many centers were in the finals, 14? Where was this voting taking place, Crusaders HQ?

His defence is clearly not up to the standard required, I don't know why people try to defend the indefensible.

Anyone who can tackle hard would be of use. 5% dominant tackles for the year is deplorable

Isn't he going off shore after the Super Rugby season?

Riley Higgins and Devan Flanders are obvious ones if they can stay on the field and hopefully Aumua can make a big return.

Backs from other franchises - Caleb Tangitau has to be an AB, Dylan Pledger is almost a certainty, wouldn't mind seeing Nanai-Seturo get an opportunity as well.

In the forwards, if Jamie Hannah has a big year for the Crusaders, I can see him being in the frame.

I'd love to see the following backline get a run next year:

    1. Roigard (Hurricanes)
    2. McKenzie (Chiefs)
    3. Clarke (Blues)
    4. Higgins (Hurricanes)
    5. Fainga'anuku (Crusaders)
    6. Tangitau (Highlanders)
    7. Jordan (Crusaders)

    Reserves
    21. Pledger (Highlanders)
    22. Love (Hurricanes)
    23. J Barrett (Hurricanes)

There was a rumour floating around that he was leaving at the end of 2025 but that proved untrue. He's signed on for one more year at the moment but no certainties what'll happen next.

i was a big fan of Jordan getting a run at 15....but think its clear hes better on the wing....im wondering if we dont make the same mistake we made with BB...would jordan be a good option off the bench with love tanitau clarke as the starting back 3

5 players I'd hope to see debut in 2026 for the All Blacks

    Caleb Tangitau

    Rivez Reihana
    Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens
    Dylan Pledger

lots of love for Pledger on here but the young fella hasn't had a super season yet!
If he has an amazing season outplaying 9 after 9 then yes promote him asap but until then he is surely in the queue behind Favatava, Holtham and Preston as more established experienced 9's.
If he is rushed and thrown to the Boks and doesn't perform will the same people then want him ditched??
JJ did him a favour not taking him the XV tour no need to panic let him develop physically and learn about pressure etc - there are other 9's that deserve their shot ahead off him at this point in time.
Injuries aside he will get there.
