King Maxwell from last years NZ U20 was playing D3 in Japan for the Water Gush. Not sure if he's still there.

He was in one of the Ignite7s teams (Surge) that played earlier this month. He has speed so would be a good option for the AB7s.

James O’Reilly heading to France. Not sure who he’s signed with though.

I guess it's Vannes which needs a hooker because two of their hookers have suffered long term injuries.

Reported on several French sites and All.Rugby - I guess it is for the 26/27 Top 14 - This from RVA radio site -
"ASM Clermont continues its transfer activity with the signing of a new key player at center.

This is very good news that could soon be officially announced by ASM Clermont. The club is reportedly close to signing another very promising player from New Zealand: Alexander Lam. This signing will help the team continue to build its squad, especially as several players are out of contract, such as Lucas Tauzin, Irae Simone, and Pierre Fouyssac.

    27 years old, winger

Aj Lam has been playing center for the Auckland Blues since 2021. He primarily plays on the wing and is currently a highly sought-after player for clubs. The 27-year-old is therefore well on his way to joining the Top 14.

According to Midi Olympique, nothing is signed yet, but negotiations are progressing very well. Lam has reportedly agreed to join the Clermont coaching staff. The latter is already working to integrate him into his attack as the second block of the championship has just begun."

Another player with promise that never got a shot. Meanwhile questions of our midfield abound

Has been that way for some time. The worst part right now is we are letting players go that could actually help us get better, IMHO....

It goes without saying that Scott Robertson's treatment of Hoskins Sotutu has been appalling, overlooked by the ABs for two years for lesser and less experienced players. His departure from New Zealand Rugby was easily avoidable if the All Blacks Head Coach had been more diligent and thorough and exercised better judgement.

But NZ Rugby is going to be counting the cost of Robertson's staggering laziness and lack of attention to detail for a long time.

Feels like it's getting much worse though. And the NRL raiding Union pathways here is at an all-time high.

Seeing both Hoskins and Lam leave really sucks.

What an absolute fucking disgrace not to pick him in 2024. The best player in the country that season. There's not a single loose forward who deserved selection more, he outplayed all of them except Blackadder who was injured all year and Savea who was swanning around in Japan and came back mediocre.

Criminal waste of talent for a team that is crying out for some power runners in the forwards to give them go forward in contact and put the rush defense on the retreat to stay onside.

@sparky 100% on your coms especially when we have seen the likes of Samipeni Finau given countless opportunites , i know he plays a different position but it does bring into question what pictures forward mystro Jason Ryan is looking at

Countless? He's played 12 tests in 3 seasons. Started 6 of those.
And in one he got knocked out very early

    Sotutu has 14 appearances.
