Won't happen. His supposed strengths are the very reason he got booted. This wasn't a case of not having unfamiliar skills - it's a complete grotesque failure of the very thing he was supposed to be best at.
It really puts into perspective the success the Crusaders setup has had .

I can see that argument, but what explains his success at the Crusaders?
Surely the guys that played under him there - Whitelock, S Barrett, Taylor in particular - would not have stood for him if he was a genuine conman?
Not sticking up for Razor here - the guy is clearly an intellectual midget with an over-inflated ego and looking at his AB stint in isolation, it's clear there's a bit of the chancer about him - but I just don't see how a genuine conman gets away with it for 7 years.
The other possible reason is, current Super Rugby isn't that much of a challenging competition.

Apologies if this has been asked, but if the ABs were rated #1 in the world instead of #2, does the fern think he still would have been canned? Has this happened because a NZ coach (TB) is assisting Nzeds biggest rival and Kirk et al are thinking this is a genius move? Word is that it wasn't a player revolt so one has to think it’s because the ABs are not number one.
Or is this shake up because NZ rugby as a whole is in a shambles and Razor has effectively been the scapegoat? -

Think one of the Cantabs on here said that Robertson had a falling out with Brad Mooar? Any other coaches he had major problems with? Seems we are up to three now.
According to Brad what happened is that he didn't agree with the culture Razor set (barbecues at Razors every Sunday with heavy drinking) and made that known.
If you ask razor or any of his supporters at crusaders hq what happened they will say it's because Mooar was a shit coach.
Apparently the call was 100% Razors to sack him anyway.
Not everyone in chch is a Razor fan. He's really milked that reputation as the "prince of Sumner" and acted like a fucking dick at times.

I think many of us agree with Kirk that it is the trajectory. I care about the RWC not so much about world rankings but I don't speak for the board. Then again some people here mentioned sponsors so maybe that is a factor?

Getting Tony Brown or a decent attack coach longterm is more important than short-term shafting the Saffers. But that's not a bad little bonus.

We didn't have one complete performance that as a supporter I was proud of last season, and many disgraceful ones. At the core of the problem was the coaching team, their poor relationship with the players and their shoddy selection. Tony Brown isn't that valuable to blow up the ABs for

The question should really be: Would the ABs be ranked No.1 if Robertson hadn't had very negative feedback from players and support staff?

@W32 this exact same thing, by all accounts this is probably more to do.with off field as it is performance and the bigger picture, selection, growth, development.
I see plenty of off shore pundits are looking at his win % and questioning the decision.

I'm not against Jason Ryan staying on as Tight Five coach as he has done a very solid there, but there needs to be a total clear out of the other coaches involved since 2024.
Virtually all aspects of the team went backwards in 2025.
Including the Forward pack.
However, i wonder how much weight we can out on individuals and performances give what has xome to light.
Ryan did a great job up to and including Rwc23 but the forwards had a poor year last year.
I guess it will depend on the new regime but he has proven himself at this level.

@DaGrubster yeah under Schmidt/Fozzie Ryan had our pack humming, but since Razor, the pack regressed, probably coincided with a SA pack on an upward trajectory too, so does it all comes back to the culture Razor has tried to instill affecting everything?
Guess it may come back player reviews on him as well, although have to think he was central to whatever 180 Razor did on DP, not to mention the well discussed rumours of issues with certain players, could he remain with minimal selection input?
