I watched a SR trial game on the weekend.
One of the teams stayed on the field at half-time.It was interesting to note that all the ACs stayed outside the huddle, lurking a few metres away, with no input.
Only the HC was in the middle of the huddle, doin the talkin (with possibly one AC (a short one), couldn't quite see).
That is how it should be; the AB half-time chats last season were probably not like that. -

If we've got to have lots of coaches - I think I'd like to see a Head Coach, a Forwards Coach, A Backs Coach, an Assistant Forwards Coach, and an Assistant Backs Coach - along with specialist skills coaches as required. I don't really get how having attack and defence coaches really work, since these are two sides of the same coin.
Lining up the assistants is what'll take some time; all the possible combinations, who will/can work with who, who is available.
If NZR are doing all this, that is how it should be, it should not be left for the HC candidates to do all that themselves.The TSF chat seems to be all about this ATM, so I imagine it is the same at HQ.

Applications to be the All Blacks head coach closed today and having started with a long list of 11 who met the criteria of having previously been in charge of an international team, six were effectively deemed of high interest, but it’s likely only two have put their hat in the ring.
For the seventh successive contestable process, the supposed ultimate job in world rugby has most probably only attracted two genuine candidates: Jamie Joseph and Dave Rennie.
Even then, it was not always certain the latter would apply, having hummed-hawed due partly to a long-held desire to take a break once his current commitment with Japanese club Kobe finishes in May/June, and partly because of a long-held lack of trust in New Zealand Rugby to behave in a consistent and transparent manner befitting a high-performance institution.
Also mentioned was that Dave Rennie had such a bad relationship with NZR, and particularly Steve Tew, that he didn't want to apply for AB coach in 2019.

One of Knowler's articles mentioned that Joseph's people reached out to NZR to get assurance that the 2023 AB coach position was going to be a genuine contest, and was not just rubber-stamping Robertson's appointment. Joseph did apply, but you can understand how Rennie might feel this time for the same reason.

Kirk is not that stupid to not have his ducks in a row before sacking Razor.

@Chris id have hoped that would have been a chat to both Rennie and JJ (and probably others) to gauge interest for the soon to be vacant HC role and interest in working with other coaches in what capacity rather than this supposed pre determined result
As to Rennie / Tew, then Robinson / Foster, fuck, shit show

Well as he was signed up by Aussie well before job even came up, I guessing that may of had something to do with it.
Probably regrets having anything to do with Wallabies, as when applying for any international job, he will never escape the fact that he has the worst winning percentage of any Wallabu coach, and some of them have been ordinary! -
