@MacDazzler you'd have to think that this means the Crusader will target Nic Shearer as their third halfback. Which is a huge shame as I imagine Folau Fakatava is off contract at the end of 2027, and the Landers would love to snap Shearer up then.

@handa457 There'd be surely a few other NZ Super sides after Shearer.
The Canes should be looking at him to backup Roigard as I think Shearer's better than both Enari and Viljoen.

Both Vijoen and Enari are off contract and not sure if the Canes will re-sign them. Shearer could be a good back-up to Roigard.

@Canes4life If I was JJ I'd be tempted to move Fakatava on after this season.
I really felt his resurgence for Hawkes Bay and All Blacks XV boded well for him. But he's gone so far backwards this season it's simply not worth losing an obvious talent in Shearer for another middling season of Fakatava.
Hell even if Fakatava doesn't exit. I'd carry four halfbacks just to keep Shearer. Lennox can over outside backs so it's essentially the same as carrying an extra winger.

Isaac Murray-Macgregor is the next talent from the Crusaders region heading to Wales and Scarlets. No npc contracts available for outside backs so he's off to Wales with ancestry too
