    @cgrant

    Dont you thik that the best NZ coaches now are all overseas? Umaga, Boyd (soon gone), Cooper, Mauger, robertson dont actually measure up to Schmidt, Gatland, Rennie, Cotter in my eyes

    @dagrubster He might be young but Robertson has done nothing but win so far (Canterbury, NZU20s, Crusaders).

    Also Plumtree seems to be the real coach behind the Canes rather than Boyd.

      @dagrubster but where did those coaches cut their teeth before going overseas?

      NZ of course, but that is not the question. Where are the top 3 NZ club/franchis coaches currently based in the world?

        Pretty harsh on Razor, his record suggests otherwise.

        He Brad Mooar are 2 of the most exciting young coaches I've seen in years.

        @sammyc

        Dont think so sammy, Razor is looking a great coach but can he match the CV of Rennie, Gatland, Schmidt or Cotter? Not yet mate....

            @dagrubster not sure what your point is, at that top level, very limited jobs available, and with the ABs success rate, the template for succession seems sound, whether you agree or not.

            All of them aren't gonna come back to NZ to coach Super rugby, for the most part it will be a step back, and def down in terms of $$$.

              @sammyc I like Razor, but I'd like to see him in charge of a less talented team (not sure what the standard of his club sides were like?) In fact, despite the fact that we've just had a Cantab coach who screwed us I'd like to see Razor take over the Magpies if it goes belly up with the new coach. A year or two of that and he'll be primed for a role with the ABs. ๐Ÿ˜‰

                  Hey, I just want to ensure that our coaches are the best prepared they can be, going through a bit of adversity at a lower level will help them deal with it at higher levels - I wouldn't mind if he returned home to that other Bay either. Either that or he could coach the Blues for a couple of years.

                  On a serious note, I'm pretty sure that Rennie's time building the Poo into a reasonable team helped mould his style at the higher level.

                    Razor has success with a strong NPC side and NZ U20 side so the next step up is Super Rugy where he turns round an under performing team and wins first up and you want him to run backwards now after success to go forward again?

                    He is developing into excatly what the AB's require, a coach who can be successful and keep successes going of a successful team

                      they dont need to be coaching at super level to be considered for AB coach roel anymore.

                      Thats what Tew has said I beleive.

                      Anyway, point is we have got to a point where our coaches in NZ are not as good as our coaches overseas.

                            Will he have to coach overseas beforehand as it seems that is a requirement to coach the ABS though?

                                    Pretty harsh on Razor, his record suggests otherwise.

                                    He Brad Mooar are 2 of the most exciting young coaches I've seen in years.

                                    Mooar wasn't a success in Southland, proving you still need the cattle.

                                      Both Razor and Mooar have had considerable success at club level. Razor in particular rescued the sumner club from an almost impossible position (they almost folded completely) and has turned them into one of the more successful clubs in Christchurch both financially and on the field.

                                      This is a pretty big endorsement of Mooar also (he's the only rugby coach on this list I think)

                                        @sammyc hmm Don't know inclusion on a list of coaches for an accelerator programme says a lot about anything other than KPSNZ when the list includes someone who has already coached for 28 years, has coached multiple Olympic medal winner and is two time Halberg coach of the year

                                          You can add Joseph to this list. Mannix is doing a good job at Pau as well.
