@rancid-schnitzel said in Star Wars VII ****contains spoilers****:

    Don't get me started.

My eldest (bless him) had seen it when it came out but didn't say a word to me about it. Actually he said it was good but was deliberately lying. Yesterday he made sure he sat with me to see my reaction. When Lea got sucked out of the ship, he simply said "Just wait for what happens next".

But let's back up to number VII. If Luke wanted do go into permanent exile then wtf did he leave part of a map? That made no sense before and it is straight out retarded now.

I also thought this film was supposed to answer questions. Nope. Snope (who btw is the sole reason the First Order is now ruling the galaxy) gets offed without even a hint of his background and as to Remy's parents? Mkaaay. And how fucking lame was the explanation of the events that transpired when Kylo went bad?

That is only a fraction of what was wrong with this abortion of a film. Any fucking Transformers film is better than this.

The Snoke thing I can actually handle to be honest. Internet access wasn't particularly easy for a six year old back in 1983 so I pretty much went 16 years wondering who the fuck the Emperor actually was before it was addressed. Seeing ROTJ before the other two probably didn't help either.

True that, but having seen the Empire destroyed in ROTJ it would have been nice to know how in the hell they were able to return to being even better than ever. You can't just build a world destroying cannon on the sly, nor construct a fleet of ships that dwarf everything the Empire had previously.

Another gripe is this thing about fuel. How tf do you refuel ships like this? What do they run on? Regular unleaded?

Finding someone who hates this flick even more than me is refreshing and invigorating. @mariner4life @Virgil here's a bag of dicks. Would you two like to share?

Hey come on now.....no need to get nasty. I've always been extremely anti Star Trek.

Virgil did you actually watch this film 3 times or did you just go to the cinema to get some much needed sleep and time away from the women?

I get it. You're blind, but the music is really awesome.

I second that. Who watches any film six times? I wouldn't watch a porno staring the Sports Illustrated swimsuit models six times.

    It’s Star Wars.

Not good enough. I've tried to justify the latest outing by saying just that and I can't. It is literally a hundred times shitter than Phantom Menace.

Like you I fail to understand how people can seriously hate the prequels but get serious wood over these new films. There is no logic there.

The prequels had their fair share of flaws which have been addressed ad nauseum but they absolutely shit all over the latest two in the series. TFA is probably better than Phantom Menace I'll admit but after the latest clusterfuck there's more chance of Steve Smith captaining Oz again than there is of the latest trilogy matching the prequels regardless of how good episode 9 is.

I was critical of TLJ after seeing it twice at the theatre but I am interested in seeing the special features of the BR release as the director Rian Johnson explains a lot of the plot points and decisions made. The doco also doesn't shy away from Mark Hamill's unhappiness with the script.

You've been trolling this quite steadily with some merit, but c'mon man, you've got to keep some semblance of realism.

Trolling is saying Daniel Braid was a much better player than Richie McCaw.

What I'm doing is stating facts.

The Phantom Menace in this analogy is the reserve from the the Auckland club team that Braid is affiliated to and played for a few times as an 18 year old.
