Read, Cane, Squire, Savea, Todd, Frizell, Whitelock, SBarrett, Hemopo, Taufua, Fifita, Ioane.

Damn, is that Hansen's rating you've put them in? Isn't there another couple of Highlanders loosies you can put above Akira?

Not Hansen's ratings - but, based on past patterns of selection the only things we can be sure of are that Read is first on the list and Akira is last. πŸ™‚

I'm actually not 100% certain you didn't mean Reiko in case he looses all his speed between now and the RWC.

@bones You must have low standards if you think Whitelock and Frizell are playing at an AB required level.

Comprehensive to describe Louw's performance against Read was incorrect, I will give you that.

Haha, my standards are high enough to not have to scour the EP for players!

I thought Frizzel was outstanding on his first start and was on par with rest of forwards for second start

I've got nothing against those Ioane boys. In fact, I wouldn't be unhappy to see Akira in the ABs, because it would probably mean Ta$man would have Frizell and that would be a substantial swing in the balance of power! πŸ™‚

You mean when the game when he ran off rucks like Fifita? πŸ˜‰ He did put in a good defensive shift against the Argentinians over there - although it's interesting what style of game he would have played if Whitelock was available.

@Chris-B Would he make your starting lineup?

I'm talking about the game when his defence was Kaino-esque. Just standing them up dead in their tracks.

I guess I didn't see that one. But his first start was the running one, so I expect you mean the second Argentina one.

Kaino-esque is certainly not a term that should be used to describe Frizell's defence. Luatua wasn't exactly a big hitter before he left NZ either, but based on the games he has played for Bristol this year, it looks like he has upped his defensive game a fair bit.

    Frizell?

Yeah - we've got about half a dozen 6/8s out, so he'd bolt in at present.

If everyone was available? We can field Squire and Taufua so in all seriousness, he'd probably be on the bench! πŸ™‚

Luatua can play at Nr.8 so he might fit as Read's cover, the other options being not too flashy.

@cgrant Going by the article that was posted in the 2019 Blues thread, Luatua isn't likely to come back any time soon. He's happy to stay at Bristol if they want him.

Bristol eyeing ex-All Black flanker as replacement for Luatua - reports

Ex-All Black loose forward Victor Vito is a target for Premiership club Bristol Bears, who is coming off contract with La Rochelle at the end of the season.

One of Bristol’s top recruitment priorities for next season, who are preparing to loose another All Black loose forward, Steven Luatua.

Luatua is believed to be contemplating a return to New Zealand in order to reignite his international career ahead of next year’s World Cup

lose! Fucking lose! not fucking loose!!!

Fake news. No way can he even think that returning in June will give him a realistic chance of an AB place.

Now there's a loose forward that would be valuable to have back in black - Vctor Vito. I would say he left too soon. If he'd hung around, irony is that right now Shag would probably draft him in as first choice - no questions asked

I think if Victor was back here he may be a bit more than a Highlanders bench option so could well be overlooked.

Liked the industry and spark of Billy Proctor and Walker leawere - have either of them picked up SR contracts in NZ?

@shadowtrooper I am sure that both are with the Hurricanes. Procter signed recently and Leawere was there last season. I think Proctor is only 19 and Leawere 21 so both good prospects.
