@Mokey esp if that lets us load the middle order with a few more all-rounders. Wonder if we might see Satner, the Neesh and CdG coming in after Latham. Although I'd go Neesh, CdG then Satner in terms of batting order. Or do we give Munro a crack lower down the order?

@Paekakboyz I think it's pretty pointless trying Munro lower down - he's not a good enough bowler to warrant a place at 7,8,9... and I think Neesham and de Grandhomme are better options at 6 - much better bowlers and equally likely to come off batting - in fact, I reckon Neesham is simply a better and more versatile batsman than Munro.

That said, I agree with Shark. I reckon Munro will make the CWC squad, because it's too late to find a credible replacement. As young Gill showed again today - everyone has a learning curve and it's too much to expect a new guy like Will Young will take to ODI cricket like a duck to water. As much as Munro isn't the long term answer, he's probably a better bet than a complete rookie - as our bench option.

Be interesting to see who makes the cut for the last ODI. CdG advanced his case, not sure Henry did. Would like to see Nicholls open the batting again, so not really sure if there is a place for Munro.

Pretty much the same team, I think with - depending on the pitch - Southee (or Ferguson) perhaps coming in for either Astle or Henry.

      No place for Munro. 🙂

Good to win but yet to see a competition. Our guys chasing down a target, or defending a total... so many questions, and still leaves you with the feeling that we will struggle when the pressure is on

Today was about a swinging ball but not many days in international cricket that the ball swings or seams anymore.

He is a slogger who only fits into one game plan. I'm not convinced he has the technique to play any other way

Some Indians genuinely believe he was better than Bradman.

Comparing across eras, especially that far apart is silly.

Tendulkar prior to his elbow injury in the early 2000s, was head and shoulders better than anybody else since Bradman. Those who watched him when he was in his prime with objectivity and understanding of the game know this. The rest, doesn't really matter.

Unfortunately when he was in his prime for the 2nd half of the 90s, India - like NZ today, hardly played enough test cricket. You lot will understand this better when 5 years down the road, other fans come along and shrug off Kane as just another ordinary batsman.

Sorry I should rephrase slightly. He wasn't far and away the best of his generation. A massive case can be made for Brian Lara. Others like Kallis, Hayden, Ponting etc had amazing records too.

No one is saying he wasn't great. No one will say that about KW either.

How many times have you seen a great Tendulkar innings and not felt good about yourself?

Those Indian cricinfo writers sure crack me up with their hyperbole....

                      His vagueness is worrying.

Perhaps he's had a chat to Jesse Ryder?

...as long as he's not thawing out Bruce Edgar I'll be happy.

I think we are seeing Stead working out how to communicate around his strategies and thinking for selection. I can see him treading carefully as he's still building his connections with the squad. But in saying that coming over all waffley doesn't really sound good in terms of him knowing wtf he's doing.

Also, we can now say to any arrogant Indian fans "you're nothing without Kohli", which is sure to rile them up a bit.

and Tendulkar was fucking over rated

Some Indians genuinely believe he was better than Bradman.

The fluffybunny wasn't even the best batsman of his generation.

I was a huge Lara fan. At his peak, he was touched by genius in my view - in contrast, Tendulkar was just very, very good.

I read an article on him, his average 52.88 is obviously brilliant, however many others have beaten it. It mentioned he only had 6 not outs ( most top order batsmen get about 30-40 ) so that stopped it getting much higher. Also mentioned how he carried his team singlehandedly for so long.

No one, and I mean NO ONE dealt to Warne like Lara did.

and Tendulkar was fucking over rated

Some Indians genuinely believe he was better than Bradman.

The fluffybunny wasn't even the best batsman of his generation.

                                        Brian Lara says bullshit

Lara was second best ever in my opinion

not just your opinion mate. A true genius. My 2nd favourite cricketer ever behind Sir Curtly.

I read an article on him, his average 52.88 is obviously brilliant, however many others have beaten it. It mentioned he only had 6 not outs ( most top order batsmen get about 30-40 ) so that stopped it getting much higher. Also mentioned how he carried his team singlehandedly for so long.

No one, and I mean NO ONE dealt to Warne like Lara did.

i remember a one-dayer in Perth where he treated him like a club player.

The Lara cover drive is the sexiest shot i ever saw.

Pace and bounce at the WACA Sir Viv - maybe you should think about a helmet?

"Fuck off man - my purple cap is fine!"
