Roofgate popped up in the news.

Last outing Ireland gave the choice to Wales and then accused them of watering the pitch to paddy status. Thought that would have been advantage Ireland actually.

Wales had asked 6N committee to intervene and rule on closing the roof - shit weather, I mean really shit weather forecast.

    Schmidt keeping us guessing.

It's about time the rules were changed.

We took steps to mitigate against the weather, built it, and should be able to call the shots.

Wales v Ireland is going to be 1915-esque trench warfare. Irish one-off runners smacking in to committed Welsh tacklers. Over and over and over again. The only difference is they didn't really need to worry about air raids in 1915.

So the plan is either box kick, or 45 short phases. It will be epic. Navidi and Tipuric will barely be able to stand on Monday.

Just on the other thing, the "# BPs for a GS" thing is such a cop-out. If a team is good enough to win 4 games and also get 5 bonus points, then they have at least some claim to a title if the other side can't even muster a solitary bonus point in 5 games. Should have just made the tie-breaker the head-to-head result.

So the plan is either box kick,

there will be air raids of a sort...

Note first air raid was in 1915, first airborne attack 1911 😉

Which is the same as giving 3 points to slam winner, as by definition the slam winner will have win the head to head.

I can't make out if Ireland have been figured out or just haven't clicked this year.

Do you think Gatland will use the same rope-a-dope tactics he used against England?

What’s it got to do with Schmidt? If Wales asked the 6N Roof Committee torule on whether the roof should be open or closed then point the finger at TSNRC.

Besides that, it’s funny how this roof malarkey only seems to come up before certain games with Gatland attempting to make an issue of it. If the WRU really do have a problem with it, then get it sorted outside the 6N so that everyone knows the policy in advance and there’s no whining about it during the comp - it just looks a bit sad.

PS It has rained prior to and during other 6N matches - Noah wasn’t required on those occasions either. It’s all gone a bit drama-queen for me.

I concur. The arrangement is that the visiting side gets to choose. That fact is known in advance so why bleat about it halfway through the competition? By all means agitate to get that arrangement changed but don't fucking whine about it.

Yep. And the arrangement is that the two sides have to agree that it should be closed. Some years ago, IIRC, Fiji asked for it to be closed, Wales said no.

                        Oh Schmidt you shit.

Less rope-a-dope more bar of soap.

                        The roof stays open.

                        The Paddy Fields of Athenry.

                        Advantage Ireland.

                        Snigger (if true).

Close it, weld it closed... oops - how did that happen?

I guess the roof problem is it was the a first for rugby, so there were lots of complaints about the advantage it could theoretically give? So WRU said visitor can choose to select criticism. But ffs we've moved on, WRU just need to say, from now on, or roof, we'll put it how we like it.

                              Exactly.

At present if both sides don't agree, then the away team has the final say.

@MiketheSnow simple solution, away team build thier own stadium with a retractable roof then decide themselves.
