@Yeetyaah that one game where he started at 12 this year he looked rock solid and alot more natural in being that extra playmaker. His love of physicality suits him being in that position aswell. He's obviously unproven because he hasn't been given much of a chance there to show his prowess.

@Canes4life I remember seeing him be named to start but didn't catch the performance. Awkward situation for him (and NZR if they wan't to resign him) I suppose.

@Stargazer probably more underwhelming is the phrase I should of used. I actually like the look of the kid after seeing him in that pre season game but will he become just another P Umaga Jensen or J Lowe and get next to no game time because of guys like Tiatia - who in my opinion just seems to be a bit average for Super Rugby.

@Canes4life Yep, the Canes coaching staff are indeed underwhelming in their ability to convert young, talented players they've signed on full contracts into successful SR players. That doesn't make those players underwhelming though.

@Stargazer from a fan perspective it does, when the Crusaders have Jordan, Ennor, Bridge etc and we have guys like Tiatia and a few unproven early 20 year olds it doesn't really give you much hope.

@Yeetyaah the best thing for the Canes to do is start JB at 12 and use Laumape in the last 30 mins as a wrecking ball against tiring opposition. Then JB can drop back to 15 and use his boot to close out matches like he did against the Tahs in round 1.

@Canes4life I disagree. As a fan, I see the potential of players that the Canes have signed. It's the coaches I'm disappointed in, because they don't give certain players game time. The Crusaders, Highlanders and (even the) Chiefs coaches do that better.

In the not so distant past, players have moved from the Canes to other franchises because of lack of game time and became successful players. The Canes have players with the same potential as Jordan, Ennor, Bridge; the matter is, what are they doing (or are they going to do) with that potential. I fear for the likes of Flanders, Toala etc.

@Stargazer I'm happy with the guys the Canes have atm, it just doesn't help when some of your most experienced outsides in Milner Skudder and Aso spend most of their time in the injury bin, same goes with Lowe and Umaga Jensen but they aren't in the same calibre so haven't been missed as much.

What players have moved from the Canes and have done better elsewhere recently?

I'm just coming from the point of view that when you look at the players we have signed up moving forward, the lack of experience in some of those positions is fairly underwhelming when you compare it with the Crusaders roster - there is no point having a roster full of unproven potential.

I'd rather the Canes search wider for more experienced talent and give guys like Toala more time to develop. In doing that though the coaches also need to find that balance of keeping consistency in selection but also blooding young guys in the odd game to showcase what they are made of - this is what the Crusaders do really well and are currently doing with Will Jordan atm.

I am sure you guys have heard the rumours about Jordie moving to the Crusaders to take that 12 spot because Beauden is taking the sabbatical in Japan and Jordie promised to play at the Canes while his brother was there.
Not saying it is true just heard the Rumour
Probably BS but adds to the conversation maybe .

@Chris where did you hear that?

He seems a fairly loyal chap and outlines in the video below that he could have signed with the Crusaders 2 years ago and played with Scott but that was offset because he always wanted to be a Hurricane. I just don't see that changing.

In my opinion I don’t think the Crusaders need him they need to give regular game time to Ennor,Jordan etc Crotty Leaving maybe opens up a spot for Jordan at FB Havalli to 2nd five or Ennor to centre Goodhue to 2nd five

@Chris if Barrett moves to the Crusaders you might aswell just hand them the trophy. A backline of 9. Enari 10. Mo'unga 11. Bridge 12. Barrett 13. Goodhue 14. Ennor 15. Jordan - now that would be something else.
