@Rancid-Schnitzel guess it somes back to the strength and numbers of your forces as to whether you can hide within the walls. Cersei was quite arrogant I think in assuming with only one dragon being dealt to so easily, her numbers should have seen an easy win.

Given the size of the forces at Winterfell, no way could they have all fallen back within the walls...

The problem is that we don't know who controls what. The GC could have harassed John and Co along the Kings Road. And who controls the Twins? Rob needed to marry himself off to get over that bridge. It's a shame because it was all very slowly and painstakingly built up but is ending far too abruptly. Even revealing John's parentage was halfarsed. "Hi Bran. Fancy running into you here!" "Hi Sam. Did you know this info about John?" "Well Bran I just happened to read that scroll." "Right I'll just got back in time to confirm."

I know fuck all about physics, but there's a shitload of energy coming out of those dragons. They must run on small nuclear reactors!

So - in the sweepstake of who ends up on the throne - who's it going to be?

I'm going to go with a Gendry-Arya alliance, though GRR is warped enough to make Gendry marry Sansa!

My wildcard pick is Bronn, who's been being promised progressively bigger castles... 🙂

@taniwharugby the big issue with the Winterfell battle was the majority of weapons that they had capable of killing wights were melee. Sure they had some arrows and fire seemed to do the job, but they were always committed to fisticuffs in that scenario. If they were mere mortals I think a siege approach with your mobile Dothraki forces outside would have worked well. Maybe with the wildlings as skirmishers as well.

At KL it was maddening how close the attacking army could muster. Sure they wanted to keep the scorpions loaded for dragon attack, but holy shit they could have smoked a fair number of Dany's army. Especially with that reload speed magic!!

@Chris-B I wondered about that too. But hey, magic! especially when you factor in the stone melting ability of the dragon flame.

@Paekakboyz Lucky those dragons didn't know they could melt stone like that when they were locked in that dungeon. It's amazing what a bit of belief can do! 🙂

Have to assume Dani will die, Jon will also either die or head north leaving Sansa to at the very least rule the north.
Think Arya will head east and leave Westeros.
Not sure about Tyrion, 50/50 on if he dies or lives, probably leaning to him dying..
Have to assume Greyworm and Drogon will die or does Drogon simply fly off once his mother is killed?

Hasn't Gendry been made official now? If he's Gendry Barratheon then he's Robert's heir. If John and Dany cark it then he's probably got the strongest claim of anyone.

And that then does back to the stupidity of Cercei sitting on the throne. That would simply not be possible and I don't see how that can happen in the books.

The true survivor in all this is Davos. Survived not 1 but 2 battles at KL (1-1) win/loss
Survived up north vs The Wildlings then Ramsay and the finally the Night King.
Just does his bit never complains.

@Chris-B must have been a scale thing aye 😉 when you are a wee dragon you can only melt flesh, then you graduate to metal and finally any known material in the universe! except Dany of course.

Hmmm have wondered if Dany's fire powers are totally unique to her or whether Jon might also be immune to fire? I forget if her immunity was prophecy or a family talent etc.

Can't melt the Night King either

Fire immunity is a TV thing, Danny is better at hot in the books, but not immune. GRR confirmed her fiery dragon birth was due to dragon magic stuff. So, is Jon immune? DnD will decide

@Virgil except that was against some slave masters who were defying her, not against literally hundreds and thousands of innocents that had already surrendered. It's a big jump, to say your going to murder people than to actually do it. I know teenagers, if the number of promised deaths actually happened, the bed no one left! Sure insanity is in the blood, and the books will show it better cos she's a PoV character. But the way she's been built up as the great white mother saviour, that was a shark jumping moment. I was sure she would go nuts, but it was too rushed and too over the top.

Edit: I accept that I'm far too invested in the books, and a total nerd & grumpy Canute, that the TV series will never live uptime expectations. But the first few series were so good that I believed that it could!

The thing is that both Dani and John are undead. I'm not sure they can even procreate anymore. I think both are on borrowed time.

@Machpants I think they addressed the Fire - Ice thing in that fire cant necessarily melt ice, it might start too but if the ice source is cold enough it could be for all intents and purposes (like the Night King) impervious to the heat.

I reckon it will be Sansa on the throne. Danny to die, Jon to either die doing it or head north of the wall. Really the only one left who makes good decisions is Sansa. Danny is nuts and Jon is an utter motion politically, militarily, and socially - who knows why the miserable git is so popular? The only question I have is about Tyrion, does he die or end up as crown Prince with Sansa, or something in between?

Edit oh Arya, yeah fan favourite so big wigs will ask for her to get something, probably free and good life elsewhere?

    Fan service is a thing

It certainly is. Just look at Greyworm and headless one, Brianne, Bronn and even the Hound. Brianne in particular has had sfa to do for the past 3-4 seasons.
