Bolters - Bryn Hall, Bridge and Will Jordan. That would make a strong starting XV.

    Moody

    Franks
    Whitelock
    Romano
    S. Barrett
    Todd

    Hall
    Moโ€™unga
    Bridge
    Crotty
    Goodhue

Great to read this thread now. No one picked Aumua, Jacobson, Weber, Josh Ioane, Ennor or Reece as potential AB bolters in March.

Back on topic. Lots of work ons still for them. But Shannon Frizzell,Dalton Papali'i, George Bridge and Will Jordan have all started the season well. Possible bolters if they keep improving.

@sparky The other three were all test capped All Blacks last year.

giving yourself props for the hot take that capped All Blacks from the year before will make an extended squad the next year is a new level of derp even for this place.

And calling them bolters in the first place? derpa derpa

Reece is total bolter - I donโ€™t know how many of us would have expected him to get a Saders starting Jersey, let alone an AB call up.

Jacobson is also flat out bolter, I didnโ€™t know hardly anything about him, and heโ€™s a Chief. Even then, heโ€™s probably only there because Squire pulled out.

Itโ€™s similar for Ioane, who has gone from hardly rated to a pretty agreed upon selection, however would probably be 4th in line if DMac werenโ€™t injured.

@gt12 Aye Ioane has come of age. I'm pretty sure most of us on here picked Black to be the next five eighth. I always thought Jacobson would be an all black but just didn't know when. Reece after his form was too hard to ignore.

Iโ€™m guilty, Iโ€™ll admit it. I had him pencilled in as soon as Dmac got injured.

I was impressed with Ioane on the Maori tour last year, whereas Black seems to get gradually worse as each season passes.

Aumua is the bolter, although not obviously a new AB. The other newbies benefitted from injuries/unavailabilities to incumbents (e.g., DMac, Squire) or had some form so were in the conversation. I doubt many expected Harris to miss out if 4 hookers were selected.

This squad only gets interesting once the team to play Argentina is announced, and then when the squad is cut to 34 players for the Bledisloe Cup games. Then we'll get a better idea of the selectors thoughts.

Yep. Didn't work for BLAM though, or others. Just being a top try scorer puts you in the conversation, but doesn't necessarily make you a great player

He is the top try scorer. That got Laumape more attention a few seasons ago.

Yep. Didn't work for BLAM though, or others. Just being a top try scorer puts you in the conversation, but doesn't necessarily make you a great player

missing a key part of the descriptor. Top try scorer (who also plays for the Crusaders)

Lam only played well during the first part of the 2018 season, but faded pretty quickly in the second.

Back on topic. Lots of work ons still for them. But Shannon Frizzell,Dalton Papali'i, George Bridge and Will Jordan have all started the season well. Possible bolters if they keep improving.

Will Jordan got injured but the other three made the Rugby Championship AB squad. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Amazing transformation in Sevu Reece this season. Credit to Razor, ROG and the Sader staff.
