I guess he must've got carded then?
No, he got hit after the whistle by a low level cheap shot. The players got up holding each other collars.
TJ pissed and whined in the commentary until he saw the replay and then conceded Akira had every right to be annoyed.
Nothing interesting
Was it Akira that got tackled late? I thought it was IWL with Akira next to him.
IMO it is something he needs to tone down in his game. He is at early Dane Coles level of niggle. Needs to come back to late Dane Coles/BBBR level.

@KiwiMurph Being lazy and having a low work rate is also part of his temperament.

That doesn't explain his game tonight. He was fine off the bench.

@Stargazer Which has nothing to do with the "niggle" criticism.

@KiwiMurph I guess the AB coaches would agree with you then??
AB coaches made it quite clear he was left out due to fitness.
Nothing to do with temperament.
@KiwiMurph ‘Fitness’ is code for temperament. They don’t have any confidence in him. And probably rightly.

I've never ever seen Akira so much as penalised for anything temperament/niggle related so I cannot buy that at all.

@Tim True, but it was said that he didn't make the ABs because of his (lack of) fitness and that that had nothing to do with his temperament. That's not true. His lack of fitness, laziness and low work rate are all also related to temperament (just as frequent involvement in niggles is).

@Stargazer but it was also said tonight showed that. How?

@KiwiMurph Not being penalised for being involved in niggles, doesn't make his behaviour right. It just means that he didn't cross a line drawn by the ref; difference between being an idiot and being a big idiot.

@Stargazer he's never ever been penalised for it.

@Stargazer it's almost like he knows exactly where the line is....

Anyway, Akira is getting all the attention again and he didn't deserve it (in a good or a bad way). He didn't do anything significant, apart from one good carry that almost lead to a try. He was okay.
Nankivell is full of promise. I hope he can kick on, because he's fun to watch. Also like the look of Walker-Leawere; can't wait to see him play for us in Mitre 10 Cup.
It's a pity that a guy like Franklin is leaving NZ. Way too soon IMO.
Black had a better game then last week. Some good kicking in this game.Liked the Maori U20s game more. Some good upcoming talent.

@Stargazer you’re off the mark tonight. Akira didn’t do anything in that scuffle. Fiji scored and some hothead wearing a white shirt decided to shove Akira after it. Then a scrum of players ensued.
Where were the posts quickly condemning the Fijian player???

@ACT-Crusader I wasn't the one saying he did do anything wrong in that scuffle. You're confusing me with someone else. (It was Walker-Leawere who got shoved, by the way)

Akira got pushed as well.
So why comment on his non-AB selection? Got nothing to do with tonight.

@ACT-Crusader Because I was responding to other people's comments that referred to the reasons for his non-selection! I think you need to read back in the thread what I actually was commenting on to understand why I said what I said. I'm not going to repeat it.
Do you actually have something to say about tonight's game? I've already said plenty.

I thought the discussion was about the earlier incident up the field after the whistle had gone.
Douglas didn’t exactly look pleased with Akira carrying on well after the ref had told them all to stop. -

I’ve read the thread so no need to throw the toys.
It just seemed a bit silly the commenting about Akira given he fronted as did many of the Maori players who were completely outplayed a week ago.
Forwards really stepped up and I thought the bench were a big reason for that.
