@jegga that is infuriating. What a douche - basically rejecting anything that didn't fit his views. If you aren't going to listen to a leading medical expert who the F are you going to listen too? oh right, old Sunny moonbeam who has a tincture of rainbows to protect you and yours.

He had an aids denier who believes you can cure the disease with rancid goats milk on his show too . Such a piston wristed gibbon .

Bill Maher Gives Charlie Sheen’s Goat Milk Doctor Some Real Time

The controversial Australian doctor currently practicing in Mexico who claims to have successfully treated HIV-positive actor Charlie Sheen through a goat-milk derived alternative therapy was given some serious — and seriously unchallenged — Real Time on HBO last night, though Sheen’s return to the...

GFYs. We aren’t going , the vaccine won’t kick in in time . For some reason you can get a flu shot at most pharmacies but not many can do a measles shot so you have to go through a gp .

700 confirmed cases in Auckland alone. Probably a good thing

Concerts , planes and hotels seem like good places to catch it

@canefan have you had a booster ? In your line of business there’s obviously a risk

The stuff article does a great job of explaining the different groups that have bought into this bullshit and why it’s so dangerous. When I first heard about it in the early 2000s it was mostly hippy alternative types but the misinformation has spread out over social media .

No. The last time I had one was during one of the annual scares at uni back in the early 90s. The internet says after two doses the vast majority of people should be immune for life. If I do get something I might sue my local anti-vaxx group

Provide vaccines for free, even with mobile dispensaries, make it compulsory and then treat non compliance like drink driving.
We are not allowed to drink and drive because it endangers lives and creates massive cost to society (both emotional and financial).
    I see no difference.

Yep. I'd also link benefit payments to it, and restrict access to public services (like schools).

That's not going to affect the worst areas from 'informed decision' though. They think benefits are built in sat navs in their cars and public schools are for people wanting manual jobs.

I thought most were free anyway?

I know when they had the Meningicocal (sp) outbreak in Northland earlier in the year, my vaccinated son got a free vaccination of the new strain, however as my daughter wasnt in the 'at risk' age group, we had to pay for her, although she was vaccinated for the normal strain.

Still can't send their kids to school in that bracket. It seems to me that the pro-disease crowd have targeted a few groups, the poor/uneducated and the wealthier soccer mum types who think memes on facebook are research.

Both groups would be affected by the school ban (and kindergarden), and it would highlight that they have a fringe belief and are harming society at large.

There’s lots of feral/hippy types that are pro disease , I’m sure a decent percentage are unemployable.

I thought they mostly live off Mummy and Daddy's money (from selling their farms probably).

I'd expect a Rudolph Steiner school to be a hotbed of anti vaxxers?

Not to mention the pinot gris swilling middle class lefties. They are the worst because they are usually educated, have the benefit of financial solidity and should damn well know better

I'd be interested to see a study of the demographics of pro-disease people. No doubt the more vulnerable communities have been targeted, there were a bunch of billboards in South Auckland that got pulled (I was one of the people that filed a complaint) that were clearly targeting a particular demographic.

If your name is Karen and you spend a lot of time on Facebook I'd say you are extremely high risk as well.

I chuckled at that billboard described in the article “if you knew what was in a vaccine would you risk it?”
More like “if you knew your homeopathic drops were simply water....”

Maybe, there’s probably plenty of second or third generation deadshits who think avoiding vaccines is sticking it to the man .

For example one of the losers who slashed the domes at the spy base caused an outbreak when he came to court for the trial . He was staying with other hippies and gave it to their kids .
