@Nepia Good luck either way..always just fun banter here,

I will also save my cheaper knives for the selection committee, just in case

In real life I have Ikea knives.

I don't have a problem with Barrett as a player, assuming the dipshit doesn't get red carded, just the changing of the style of the trio in the lead up to a big game.

And, of course, that the player replaced is a Chief and his replacement is a Crusader......

Great analysis of Irish game and what we shall see in the English game in terms of pod system.

I also think losing Todd ( unless that is a smokescreen ) had a bit to do with it ,

Gives the bench more balance ,

2 7s starting with 2 bigger forwards on the bench wouldn’t be right

If that is true, you wouldn't be having Todd on the bench against SA either. SB at 6 is more appropriate against the Bok loosies, as he did in Albany.

Not true, I'd still have an issue with it if they replaced him with the Highlander Frizell. 😉

Ask @ACT-Crusader, he's the selector when it comes to those guys.

Now the team is named, is there any rule stopping the ABs from switching Cane and Barrett at the last minute?

I think picking Scott Barrett is primarily around the lineout. With Barrett there we will have 4 frontline defensive lineout options and 5 options on our own ball (with Savea added in). I assume a big part of the plan is to kick the ball out and try to steal lineout ball. That was a big part of our game in 2018. Also I would have thought Barrett will be better at defending the lineout maul than Cane.

We don't lose anything on defence with Barrett, nor do we lose much of Cane's impact at the breakdown. Cane will come on fresh in the second half and can go nuts for 30 minutes on defence if required.

I think it's a move specifically to address England's big forwards. If we make it to the final, I expect Cane to start again.

I think Cane is our hardest hitter by a long shot. His physicality in the tackle and at the breakdown is just extraordinary.

Who is the better 1st 5 Ford or Farrell? Is this purely to give them a second play maker?

Not sure but I thought Slade was poor last week, so maybe it’s more to do with that

Good chance of rain Saturday night. Wonder if that factored into Scotty starting?

yea, if the ball you definitely don't want your hardest hitter on there...

Who is the better 1st 5 Ford or Farrell? Is this purely to give them a second play maker?

I think Tuilagi at 13 is best for England, so that puts Farrell at 12 and Ford at 10.

English mate who really rated Slade says

                                        Farrell, Tuilagi, Slade is stronger

I thought Slade was off the pace last week.

Lateral defence being the issue. Won't be surprised if ABs target that channel with ALB and Mulletboi off set piece.
