This is probably a really stupid question, but why are Fijians not classed as Polynesian?

    I'm thinking because they're Melanesian?
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanesians?wprov=sfla1

Not something usually considered really though eh.

That could have something to do with it.

    You learn something every day.

my Chiefs loosies are Messam, Lats, and Lauaki

    My backline?

TKB, Cruden, Reihana, Little, Bunce, Randle, Mils

The dreamy Richard Kahui the unlucky one. Sivivatu also because someone made the "no fijians" rule.

No room for title-winning fullback Robbie Robinson?

Yes, but I'd select Deacon Manu over Hohneck.

I think he meant Sean Hohneck the lock ... not the prop version. Cooksley and Hoeata are both test capped locks available for the Chiefs.

@cgrant he sure did. I didnโ€™t consider the two options of Flutey and Cruden though.

That's right, I forgot about him. To answer @junior, Sean Hohneck started for the Maori in their win over the B&I Lions in 2005.

After all of the options mentioned I would probably go back to Cooksley.

    Highlanders Pasifika XV

    1 Kees Meeuws
    2 Ash Dixon
    3 Carl Hayman
    4 Tom Franklin
    5 Jackson Hemopo
    6 Liam Squire
    7 Alando Soakai? Dan Pryor?
    8 Taine Randell
    9 Aaron Smith
    10 Lima Sopoaga
    11 Hosea Gear
12 Rob Thompson / Tei Walden
    13 Malakai Fekitoa
    14 Waisake Naholo
    15 Israel Dagg

I may have some jersey numbers wrong.

Randall to blindside, Isitolo Maka to 8
Pita Alatini and Mapasua in the midfield
Felipo Levi in to the 2nd row

I'd have Brian Lima over Hosea Gear too.

Some interesting selections in there. Not sure TJ would beat out Piri in a straight head to head, also Fatialofa over Waller seems to be recency bias. JTA??? Jane is a better right wing than Fatty.

Also, can those fools at the Canes not find a pic of Bachop in a Canes jersey?

oh good call, i had completely forgotten he played there!

That's the problem with these lists now, 1996 is a long time ago

@Nepia Perenara every day of the week based on performances in a Canes jersey. He is just super consistent.

Recency bias and luck to be in a team with Barrett at 10 and not Gopperth. ๐Ÿ˜‰

All good, TJ for you and Piri for me ... either team has a good bench 9 then.
