Yeah, I don't quite get how Clarke gets so few metres but has a clean break. They're clearly a bit dodgy.

@gt12 @Chris-B 11 mths out from RWC I was told Bridge was a certainty.

A certainty for the squad or a certainty to playing in a RWC knockout match ahead of the world's best left wing?

Iirc he was being touted as a fullback?

      @Bones

I think he was touted as the NMS/Smith FB/wing replacement/addition

Is there a single test match quality 12 in NZ at the moment? All of them have major deficiencies. ALB would have been my 13, but has been well down on form. Rieko has been hot shit on attack, but is still learning some of the defence aspects at 13.

Hopefully the AB coaches can see that Goodhue is clearly wasted at 12. ALB will be fine in black.

@Bones ALB at 12 just makes for another crappy, low physicality midfield. Not as bad as some in the past, but pretty average too.

I fear that we are going to get the same high workrate, "high skill" team that would get smashed back behind the advantage line while trying to go extra wide early.

The weekend was the first time I really started to think Rieko might evolve into a bloody good centre. Need to watch him more on defence, but I thought he showed some nice touches ball in hand (passing to set up others) that I hadn't really seen from him before. Good to see him evolve

I wonder if a Goodhue/Reiko partnership could develop? With Goodhue the glue that allows the dynamic players to flourish.

Definitely not low physicality. Not exactly Tuilagi but not many are.

We don't have a Nonu available. Laumape isn't that either as his distribution is more like Nonu c2003.

You need to have all 3 on the field so that's (11) Ioane, (12) ALB and (13) Goodhue.

@taniwharugby Clarke is keen to go based on a quote only a week ago.

“I want to go to Tokyo,” he says. “It’s a big goal, especially while I’m still young. But we’ll just see how this season pans out. The ultimate goal is always the black jersey. If there’s a shot of that it would be something real cool to pursue. But the Olympics is once in a lifetime as well.”

I guess you missed the ALB/Crotty midfield that was such a success a couple of years ago. Through the middle.

Foster's starting forwards will probably be the following, and it will be a big wet turd. Then we'll thrash Australia and there will be one hundred posts about how good they are.

                                  1. Moody

@Bones I think it was that our forwards were weak and we lacked options in the backs other than go wide, go early. We were shit and playing flaky rugby.

I think when he is on form, ALB can do very well in traffic and can be good at 12. He's a great offloader. I do think he's a bit better at 13, but right now it's hard to judge because he's just terribly out of form.

We don't have a Nonu available. Laumape isn't that either as his distribution is more like Nonu c2003.

You need to have all 3 on the field so that's (11) Ioane, (12) ALB and (13) Goodhue.

How did Nonu turn out? Nani may end up being another Sam Tuitupou, or maybe he'll expand his game like Ma'a. He does bring toughness and the ability to break the line

Laumape is already 27 so hasn't got the same time to develop as Nonu did. He should be in the AB squad but I don't think he starts unless the coaches want a point of difference in the midfield.
