I don't think being able to vote would have swayed Mrs TRs decision to move here.

I guess for me, the point is, if this was such an issue, and we know Whiney is anti immigration, why didn't he bring this up before the 1st vote, I certainly don't recall it.

NZ has always tried to be at the forefront of voting rights anyway.

Well in Canada unless you are a citizen you can't vote for anything Federal, Provincial, Town Council, School Board ~ and I'm pretty sure in my house I don't even get a vote on what we watch on TV.

.

I'm a landed immigrant but won't become a Canadian because I don't see myself as a Canadian (I'm probably not polite enough) ~ I live here because I didn't read the fine print on the marriage certificate. The thing that bothers me the most about the non vote is you can be in prison for life for raping, killing etc and you get to vote.

I'm with you on that count!

As to the prison vote, prior to the last election there was bit of noise about that here...for me, I guess the crime you commit should determine if you lose your vote, but drawing that line is the tough part, so is probably easier if you are in prison, you have broken the rules of society, so you don't get a vote on that society.

I have to put my foot down on some things. I'll be fucked if my boy is watching Blaze and the Monster Machines while Baz's final test vs Aus in on.

In hindsight, Blaze would have been more enjoyable viewing...

I had an hour of the oscars , Chris Rock was surprisingly funny while making some decent points at the same time .

Of course the walking dead came on and normal transmission was resumed.

Thank God for timer record. Mind you by the time I get access to the TV I usually fall asleep halfway through.

But the TV is always mine for AB games (and most Canes games), that is non-negotiable. Mind you, the way the Canes season is shaping this year, I might prefer to watch Heart of Dixie or whatever Godawfulshite the wife is currently viewing.

Someone who considers themself a designer went through all 10,000+ designs submitted, and choose this group of 40 flags. Which tells me why I don't think designers are that necessary. Flags and art are not the same thing imo. Some of these designs appeal, but there is no way you are going to get more than 50% of the voting public rallying behind one of these flags.

Yeah my point is we hear that "if only there had been designers involved".

And I think the above link shows why that may not have been useful at all.

From a sample size of one? Wonder if they were 'self taught'!!

From my perspective that comment (about a designer being included) isn't so much about what they would have picked themselves, but what they could have offered to the panel's discussions and final selections.

They had the ceo of Saatchi and Saatchi who I suspect would know a fair bit about branding and design and a flag historian. I've posted the flag the vexoligists chose and if thats the best they could do I want those weirdos nowhere near any flag design for our country.
