@canefan anyone know why abrams didn't do all three films, I also think they would have been more cohesive if ha had just done them all

This is the thing I can’t get my head around. You would have thought they would have had the entire trilogy fleshed out before they started but they hadn’t done anything of the sort. Absolutely bizarre.

I think there was an element of knowing that the first trilogy was made up as it went and was the best. The prequels were planned and panned.
But giving someone free rein to completely change the story direction in the middle then have to make shit up to tie the first and second together was crazy.
Then, in the middle of it we had the Solo backstory that didn't mesh with any of if even though it at least tried to. (eg the Maul crime syndicate part)

It felt like the safe play. Remake the original trilogy for the new generation. Lazy lazy lazy

Yeah, although Ep VII was a Ep IV copy at least there were some decent set-ups to work on (that were then ignored). Who was the old guy with the map and why did he have it? How did the lightsaber end up where it did?
I would like to think that that was all meant to be a trusted network set up by Luke to reach him when he was really needed.

Not to mention the fact they totally wasted Saw Gerrera, who was a notable character in Rebels

    Back to Mando....

One nerd on a site I follow on FB ( which by default makes me a nerd too ) mentioned how brilliant it is how Mando is essentially a gunslinger in an old western and Ashoka is a Samurai even to the point where they faced their respective foes in a dusty town and a beautiful garden.

Fuck Mando is such a brilliantly made show....so good having one to watch each week.

This season overall has topped last season which is an astounding feat.

I love having a day with my boys doing stuff outside but then plonking down on the couch at 3-4ish and watching the latest episode.

They even went back to the source on this one, some shot remakes for Akira Kurosawa’s movies.

It's like the bosses saw how successful S1 was and they've let Favreau and Filone completely off the chain. And they are swinging for the fences every episode

and clone wars before that, its so weird because his rebels appearances are at a similar time to rogue ones development...how can they diverge like that

There’s so many little subtle things that make me love the show. Did anyone notice the Yoda theme music play a couple of bars when Ashoka mentioned his name ?

No. Will listen closer when I rewatch with CF Jnr. That's what you get when you have a fan of cinema like Favreau (Swingers was basically filled with homages to his favourite films) and Filone who is the biggest SW fanboi ever

It’s perfect for rewatching, which is a good model for a streaming service.

Do so, it's such a nice little subtle touch. I guess it's not his "theme" as such, but you'll hear it and recognise it.

What did Ashoka end up doing with the Magistrate ? Chucked in one of those prison torture things I’d expect.

Was she some sort of force user too or ‘merely’ yet another awesome female fighter ?

This show has truckloads....Cara, the armourer, Bo Katan, Bo Katans Mando mate, Ashoka....hardcore feminists must be furious there’s nothing to whinge about in Mando.....

Read back. They are still finding problems. Armour with room for breasts for example.

That Twitter post got absolutely murdered online, some great replies to it - the best from other women.

Dawson is currently going through a attempted cancellation as well, some from Lucasarts employees as well. All over a discredited lawsuit.

And obviously Gina is copping it because she has opinions that differ from groupthink.

The irony is that the targets here are giving them what they have always wanted, strong popular female characters. Each one of Katee, Gina and Rosario has a character that is not shoe-horned into the plot and a character independant enough they they all likely to get their own series.

The left like to eat their own.

We could take this to the SW Universe politics thread if there was one but why the last comment?
Sure, idiots like that are often left leaning in their politics but they aren't representative. Just call them what they are. Idiots.

If you can show me even one right wing Twitter troll/idiot trying to get someone on Star Wars cancelled then sure. At the moment they all seem to be leftist idiots.

so its only cancel culture you dislike? the right, apparently we're just grouping everyone together now, just straight abuses people for being different...but that fine

Afraid he missed the point entirely.
All about labelling @Kirwan . It's what causes half the shifights around here.

Makes me wonder if they are ballsy enough to include Luke Skywalker at some point.

They could use the Winter Soldier guy.

shit I would love to see that and yeah, Stan would work

they could even do it as a holo communication, not in real life, might explain away less than perfect CGI and be less of a sin than recasting

It's funny, I can't imagine anyone other than Mark Hamill as Luke but I was perfectly happy with Ewen McGregor as Obi Wan ( Alec Guinness was excellent as well of course )
