I'd love to know watling's average when he comes in with less than 150 vs more than 300. He's the polar opposite of a flat track bully. Only scores runs in the toughest conditions. Combined that with being a super reliable keeper and he's low key one of the most important players in the team.

    Watling proving your point haha

Craig McMillan is so out of sorts with his commentary today. So many incorrect words used and getting batsmen wrong. Just weird for him as he is usually quite good.

A few times this summer I’ve thought “well the Australians don’t drop this many catches against us”... but then I watched how many chances they spilled at the MCG last week 🙂

the accidental c bomb might have something to do with it.

@Hooroo it was a mispronunciation the other day where he was trying to counter-attack or something.

@Hooroo I have been getting Williamson and Mitchell confused today too.

I quite like the commentary team. I like the analysis they're doing. Good to hear from an NZ perspective because I reckon it's been missing in the past. I would have liked it when I was young and taking my cricket seriously.

Same here. I like Craig too as a comms guy. Just feel he is having a out of sorts day today.

Not sure if anyone watched the lunch break, but they had a question and answer thingy with Fleming and McMillan. Someone asked Fleming what is the one thing he would have liked to have known prior to playing test cricket. His answer was he wished he had learnt how to convert 50s into 100s.

Both he and McMillan pointed out that they were able to progress through the ranks without being taught to score 100s. 70s and 80s were enough. It's good to see there is an awareness of this in NZ cricket now. I grew up playing with and against these guys and it always bothered me that they were never held to account when when they got out at bad times. I witnessed a number of those middling scores from both of them, and others, and nobody got up them for it. Compare that to rugby where the young hotshots were brought back down to earth if they did something stupid on the field.

    Mitchell’s technique looks pretty sound.

Pretty decent batting average for our back up allrounder - currently 49.67.

Only a small sample size, but still...

I’m not a huge fan of Gladiator’s work in the commentary. I reckon he criticises too much. I don’t mind critical analysis and things being called out when appropriate, but he tends to heap on.

Fleming and Baz are very good.

Fleming is better than McCullum probably due to the fact he's a lot further removed from this team.

McCullum would have played with almost all of this team.

500 up, lead is past 200.

I don't buy the "nobody showed us how to convert 50s to 100s", sounds like poppycock to me. Cricketers are very stats-obsessed, no way were they especially satisfied with 70s and 80s.

Sorry mate, but it ain't poppycock. I witnessed it first hand.
