@Kiwiwomble I started The Stand (Although me thinks Stephen King wrote it a wee bit before Covid) although is a series
Was it any good. Does it start well?
I read the book just before Covid (a coincidence) and there are some parallels. He wrote it late seventies so it is old but strangely relevant.

Maybe Block yourself from the Star Wars page ?
I do that with Golf and horse racing on here.

@Snowy its ok, nothing great but watchable (I just saw there was also a series made in 1994 with a solid cast; Rob Lowe, Gary Sinise and Molly Ringwold and a few other recognisable faces)
Obviously having just read it you know it has a super natural element to it as opposed to just a pandemic (assuming the series writers havent taken liberties) but yeah there are some eerily similar parallels.

Completely agree @taniwharugby
Read and loved the book in the 80's and then again in 1990 when the reprint came out as a Complete and Uncut Edition (in fact, I still have this version but it's in terrible shape at my parents house with all my old shite).
Loved so much about this book except that f*cking end. That "hand from the sky" shit just really really annoys me (even more so as an atheist) and seemed like such a cop-out from King.

Motherless Brooklyn
Neo-noir crime drama set in 1950's NYC directed by and starring Ed Norton as a PI trying to solve the murder of his mentor.
Yeah thought it was gonna be a tough/slow watch but Norton's quirky character makes it much easier. Recommend. Fair few other faces too, Willis, Dafoe, Alec Baldwin, Michael K Williams.
3.5 if's out of 5 if's.

About 15mins into The Untouchables, not my pick obviously, bit dull so far, Kevin Costner at his most handsome though.
-
@R-L A very good movie, and some great one-liners later in the film.

pffft, sounds like someone doesn't like shootouts or Scotsmen playing Irishmen.
