looking for a movie last night and i realised i have never actually seen Scarface

    So i threw it on

Boy is that movie overrated. Fuck it goes forever, feels like it drags, and yet just jumps forward. It feels like immigrant gets off the boat, immigrant gets in to drug business, I'm the boss now! i'm really rich. and now I'm fucked. Yet it's 3 pretty boring hours.

Whole heaps of some good old fashioned Al Pacino overacting.

Yes it's 40 years old, but other movies of its time did it way better.

Thank god I'm not the only one. I keep getting crucified on here for saying some movies held as greats aren't all that.

By contrast, I'm sure Godfather 1 and 2 are still farken boss

I won't hear a bad word said about either. Obviously 2 is better...

Just like Bill and Ted really. First film great, second even better, 3rd utter shit.

I'm not on that train with you, I liked the 3rd film, might have been due to it being the 2nd film I watched back in cinemas again after lockdown, but I enjoyed. Agree on Godfather 3 though.

    Were you drunk as well?

No more drunk than when I'm watching your beloved Cobra Kai with it's silly contrivances and characters who change personalities more than I switch Super rugby teams. 😉

I bet if they all relocated from LA to Hawkes Bay you’d watch with interest

I watched them all, but if they were set at the Flaxmere Intermediate Hall with sensei Solly Purcell it would be the best show ever.

Yeah, he was the lead, but it also had Samuel L Jackson, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Omar-from-the-Wire, and a blonde hottie I don't know the name of.

How dare you compare my beloved CK to that dross. CK is a very rare example of how not to fück up something great. Mind you they should round that shit off soon. Johnny only has so many character arcs.

He has a couple every few episodes. You have to give the writers credit for how they manage to write themselves out of any irrational situation.

The two big group fights were pretty awesome though. Like they were from an Indonesian movie if Indonesia censored violence like they censor nudity.

Hopefully S4 has more Moon and less of Kreese's back story in the cleanest jungle in existence.

@nepia it’s the same basic plot, but the beginning is quite different. Even some of the scenes that you might think are the same are actually Whedon reshoots to add shirt jokes.

Lots of side by side comparisons if you care.

Main thing to check is the Affleck wig and his weight. In the 2017 version he drops up and down between scenes.

Weirdly, at the end he looks like he’s back to his Town shape. Very thin.

I heard that last scene with Martian manhunter was a Snyder reshoot for this cut, that’s why afflecks much thinner...and older

I thought he looked younger if anything. The entire epilogue was a reshoot.

Snyder has said that he filmed that MM scene with a John Stewart version of the Green Lantern, but the studio asked him to take it out. So the compromise was MM instead, 75% of the scene was the same.

Funny thing is he wasn’t supposed to do any reshoots but did them anyway, making the point it said Zac Snyder’s Justice League, so....

They need to do a documentary about this film, so much is unusual

As I mentioned on another thread Snatch is still all kinds of awesome as is Lock Stock thanks in no small part to Mr Statham.

Will the magic still be there 21 years later ? to be honest I doubt it but I hope like fuck I’m wrong.

@mn5 Very much appears NOT Lock Stock or Snatch, which is very comedy of errors and personalities, with violence. But more like other Statham movies, no personality killing machine. Not that this is a bad thing!

Yep, but the difference is that one was always planned. He was due to finish the MM reveal in LA but then was forced off the project.

I’m just over half way through and really want to finish so I can watch the above, and screen rants pitch meeting etc, and listen to Fatman Beyond podcast. The only issue is I have to keep watching to finish 😛
