@machpants I only mentioned the Heartland-Ranfurly Shield game between the Magpies and a Heartland team, which will normally be end of June. NPC will probably start in August, so it will depend on whether ABs selected for the Bledisloe Cup and TRC will be released. They've done it before, so it could happen, but it's a different time/situation to that Heartland-Ranfurly Shield game.

If the ABs are going to do a bolter or an apprentice this year then look no further than De Groot imho.

Is Parkinson out for the season or will he be fit to play in the TT competition ? His size could be useful for the ABs, particularly for clearing bodies in the rucks.

Given the first few games are likely to be a big factor in Fozzies future as AB coach, I'm not sure hevis gonna stay too far from what he knows, we saw that last year and the fact there was little freshness to the squad or the game plan

@yeetyaah they should be doing this every year. That game last year was probably the game of the season.

I don’t rate Italy either, but a different opposition will bring a different preparation, different challenge and the fact that it’s the All Blacks and test match footy.

Lost track of squad numbers, and need, if any, for utility value.
Although Moody out, I feel we’ve got two good options at LH in Karl and Ross. Then there’s Hodgman, who was AB experience but a bit meh, and O’Neill who’s solid but injured. De Groot and Norris seem names for future.
TH concerns me, though. Nepo is international level scrummager and Ofa good against most teams. Lomax and Ta’avao are shaky at top level, although the latter is savvy and cheats to compensate.
For me the second best TH scrummager at the mo is Sione Mafileo, another product of Wesley. Held up well today against big Karl, and would be interesting to see what the AB team could do on his overall game.

Disagree. Italy were appalling bad in 6 Nations. The ABs should wrack up 80+ points again them. I would prefer a contest, thank you.
