Have to wonder how many high level school-aged players are lost to NRL and forgotten by most of the rugby community.

There's only so many places in SR and ITM squads, so heaps I'd imagine

A lot of them play both codes at schoolboy level but not many traditional rugby schools have a RL team.

@taniwharugby I'd love to see video of that famous triple scissors again.
Not sure if it would work against modern defences but you never know. HIstory is often forgotten by coaches wanting to do the next new thing when the old thing could be better.

Great article. But have to take issue with the author saying Sid's passing game (or lack of it) didn't matter as the AB backs were a bit crap back then. Players like Bruce Robinson, Bryan Williams, Grant Batty, Joe Karam, Ian McRae, Bill Osborne etc were pretty damn good.

It's interesting to hear Wayne Smith is another advocate of Jordie Barrett being played at 12, Razor had much the same reasoning when he shared his views on the radio a few months ago, like Wayne, believes Jordie's physical attributes would be better utilized at second-five.

"There are people who are saying that Richie Mo’unga is struggling to step up to international level. But when New Zealand came back from the Autumn tour, Scott Robertson heavily implied that the All Blacks weren't playing to the strengths of their players."

                                Ain't that the truth...

That is a very good read - a lot of very interesting stuff - it's pretty much a transcript, so people who refuse to read Reason should be able to read this, because the substantive stuff is from Smith.

I didn't know all that stuff about his early time at the Chiefs.

The gameplan did us well from 2010 to 2016, no reason to change it

I had read the article in the newspaper but that wasn't the full interview. Some of the best parts were omitted. Like...

Yeah, some of that was news to me too. I am familiar with the facilities and the flooding that used to plague the training field.

                                          Big bump.

I read this in the physical Weekend newspaper supplement but here is the same article online. It's an extract from Smithy, Wayne Smith's new memoir.
