Good analysis I thought. The enlarged squad needed this year for such a tough program has built depth through international test opportunities.
Shows how weak we are depth wise in some spots and how some super teams will be threadbare in areas.
Only quibbles for me were Rayasi T Christie and Love rated that high.
We have a lot of 'not quites' at 6 currently. Hoping someone pushes forward there and that we get others progress at prop 10 and back 3.
Thought Harry Plummer and Selby Rickett deserved inclusion and maybe Sami Finau and Sam Gilbert. But only at 5th choice level. -

Depth in mediocrity perhaps.
There's only 2-3 people on that list I'd argue are currently amongst the top in the world in their position (and the second one and third one are arguable). -
Odd to see Rayasi ranked as 3rd best right wing. I have never seen him play in that position. Christie included in the best opensides is also weird as he did not play in 2021 and hardly set the world on fire in 2020. Nankivell named as outside centre is also questionable as he is mainly a second five. I don't know how to think about Ruben Love's inclusion in this list too. McClutchie was far better in this year's NPC and I am not from Napier !

Stole lots of caps from Rundle, Reihana and James Kerr.

It’s funny. Savea is highly rated outside of this forum, whether that’s journalists or rugby fans from our opponents, but here he seems to be regarded as borderline useless. Someone is wrong.

he doesn't hit hard in the tackle, he can't clean a ruck to save himself (on either side of the ball) nor does he really like too, our turnover stats say he isn't good on teh ground either. And this guy is supposed to be a #8?
So he's an obvious athlete and is pretty good after contact. That's it?

Back row in particular can't work in isolation ie, the three need to be complimentary. Put a Cane/Papali'i and then a Kaino type 6 with Savea and my bet is there would be no arguments about Savea's merits.
I've come to the conclusion Savea and Akira can't play in the same backrow, puts too much pressure on our openside to do the grunt work

Moody 2024?!
He’s already showing signs of a downward slide.
We need tanks that can scrum AND cart the ball up strong.Probably a bit unfair as the other way to look at it is that it's great not to lose his experience overseas and he can help the young bucks. I just hope he doesn't become a roadblock.

@crucial TBF he did have the injury, so maybe that had an effect on his game, next year will be the key for him to see if he can wind back the clock.
