BTW, did anyone notice Josh Brolin's character die? Was thinking after watching the movie that I couldn't recall seeing what happened to him.
Can't wait for the next movie.
Gurney does die on the initial attack dose he? i thought he survived and there is a bit reunion with Paul once Paul....has changed
I’m going off the 80s movie in which they have a reunion. Worth noting that a lot of scenes are recreated almost word for word although Duncan is much more prominent in the later movie.
A question again for @NTA, the heart plugs were only in the early movie and not the books is that right ?

i haven't seen the 80's on (that i can remember) im going off reading the book last year
my recollection was exactly like the movie...you kind of forget about him because you assume he died in the attack, and then he rocks up again and you're all "oh yeah! we never "saw" him die!"
this could be quite embarrassing for @RoninWC the self proclaimed "Dune Chronicles tragic" at the next convention

Hahaha, true.
In my defense, I read those books like 30+ years ago and haven't re-read them since. I was a tragic back then and had read the first two books before the 1984 movie.
Because that movie was so disappointing, I did finish the books by Frank Herbert but didn't even bother to watch any of the other attempts to put the books to screen, big or small.
That is, until this one which I thought was excellent. Now thinking to go back and read the books again but then again... that's a lot of books and a lot of pages.

@MN5 to be fair, he did lead a bunch of Atreides troops on the ground towards the landing ships and the last you saw of him (and the troops) was the ground erupting around them with fire from ships above.

@roninwc i dont know if you saw my my comments last year after deciding to read the book in prep for the new movies, i was a bit disappointed and had little interest in reading the others, on reflection have come to the conclusion i found it a bit predictable / formulaic ....because it came up with the formula that so many sci fi books ive read since have built on, so whilst i wont judge the original poorly....i still have no interest in reading the rest

@Kiwiwomble thanks for the advice and I think if I was to try to re-read the novels, I'd have the same response as you.
Instead, was thinking maybe to pick up the new The Caladan Trilogy series by Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson:

Throught proving movie which does nothing to dispel my nostradamus prediction that Twitter would start the next world war. The climate crisis has obviously been the inspiration but there are so many parallels to what's been observed over the Pandemic as well.
As somebody relatively new to the concept of how much my world views have been shaped by the media, this was a fantastic watch.

Finally watched this. Really enjoyed it although perhaps not as much as I was expecting to after all the hype it had received. Stilll don't really get what happened with Spacey at the end there, he had a massive change of heart as he saw Baby had a bird? Odd.
Would have been great to see more driving like when he was in the Impreza too. That was such a good sequence!
3 terrible sunglasses out of 5 Red Impreza's.

I'd also like to think that particular review was memorable.
But maybe I didn't highlight the absolute "What-The-Fuck-ery" levels of that film. It really was a masterclass in Batshittery.
