I really enjoyed the movie, only saw it 6 weeks ago, but I cant even remember a Gurney character in the movie. My memory (lack of) is starting to worry me...
Grumpy guy played by Josh Brolin at the start. Disappears the moment shit hits the fan
@MN5 to be fair, he did lead a bunch of Atreides troops on the ground towards the landing ships and the last you saw of him (and the troops) was the ground erupting around them with fire from ships above.

@roninwc i dont know if you saw my my comments last year after deciding to read the book in prep for the new movies, i was a bit disappointed and had little interest in reading the others, on reflection have come to the conclusion i found it a bit predictable / formulaic ....because it came up with the formula that so many sci fi books ive read since have built on, so whilst i wont judge the original poorly....i still have no interest in reading the rest

@Kiwiwomble thanks for the advice and I think if I was to try to re-read the novels, I'd have the same response as you.
Instead, was thinking maybe to pick up the new The Caladan Trilogy series by Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson:
Dune: The Duke of Caladan (2020)
Dune: The Lady of Caladan (2021)
Dune: The Heir of Caladan (forthcoming) -
Don't Look Up
Throught proving movie which does nothing to dispel my nostradamus prediction that Twitter would start the next world war. The climate crisis has obviously been the inspiration but there are so many parallels to what's been observed over the Pandemic as well.
As somebody relatively new to the concept of how much my world views have been shaped by the media, this was a fantastic watch.
5 Fat Leo's out of 5 Is that really Cate Blanchetts?

Baby Driver
Finally watched this. Really enjoyed it although perhaps not as much as I was expecting to after all the hype it had received. Stilll don't really get what happened with Spacey at the end there, he had a massive change of heart as he saw Baby had a bird? Odd.
Would have been great to see more driving like when he was in the Impreza too. That was such a good sequence!
3 terrible sunglasses out of 5 Red Impreza's.

Just found out that Danny Trejo is 77 years old and stands 167cm tall. Wtf?
I think he's actually a lot shorter now. The thing is, he actually does have some experience
Trejo recalled being asked to “rob a poker game” for one scene and after being told “make it look real”, he unleashed hell on the five stunt actors. He recalls: “‘I kicked in the door, hit one with a gun, knocked over the next one and had a big shotgun held to another. “‘Move! Move! I haven’t killed a white guy all day,’ I yelled. “Later the director asked, ‘Where did you study? I said ‘Bonds, Piggly Wiggly, CVS drug stores, poker games.’

Josh Brolin reached his zenith of expression as a CGI Green Monster from Titan.

Munich: Edge of War Set in 1938 when Chamberlain is appeasing Hitler.
Plot: Brave German Civil Servant/Diplomat & British Civil Servant/Diplomat try to stop Chamberlain selling out.
Dire, boring and predictable. 2 Panzer Divisions out of 5 Dunkirk Evacuations

@mn5 think that was one of his first self harm reviews...?
I'd also like to think that particular review was memorable.
But maybe I didn't highlight the absolute "What-The-Fuck-ery" levels of that film. It really was a masterclass in Batshittery. -
@kiwiwomble Nope!

Riders of Justice
3.5 Mads out of 5 Livids
Not bad. Another Round was better though, that is a class film. The guy is a savage actor. Always believable.

@tim did it actually explain what the new John Travolta film was?
I’m thinking “Perfect”. Which of course was a wildly inaccurate title.

@machpants I don't know what his social stances are, but those three videos I could not agree more with.

@machpants said in Movie review thread...:
I totally disagree with many of his social stances, but fuck me I agree with his movie criticism! This line should be inserted to many modern moveies (most recently for Matrix 4) "work of retarded genius"
Following on from:
We have the so so true
He's great. Does he have social stances? I thought he just reviewed movies while hammered.
