@chris Interesting team. Have heard something about Lord needing to get back into line quicker after tackles and carries. Looks to have some real ability to impact the game though.

Fainga'anuku is a real talent. Should have been in the ABs last year for some game time.

Wonder if Clarke can cover centre. Has done so for Marist, but may lack some vision? Defence is good.

LF could also cover centre in that team,
Clarke adds another impact player from the bench.

Gregor Paul suggests an AB backline:

A back three of Havili, Will Jordan and Caleb Clarke, a midfield of Jordie Barrett and Rieko Ioane, with Aaron Smith and Beauden Barrett as playmakers and the All Blacks may have their deadliest backline in years.

          @tim Havili?

Reece, Leicester both ahead of him as a wing, surely?

              Havili? Nah.

Rather have Reece on the wing and Jordan at 15.

              Swapping last year's 12 & 15 ... ?

@crazy-horse Gregor must be picking from Fozzies coaching manual...

Lets shift our 12 from last year to 15, a position he hasnt played at super for 2 seasons, or in black for 4? and move the guy that has been playing 15, to 14 (obviously this isnt quite as bigger deal)

Yeah I was thinking along the same lines. That would be a backline of players playing in differing degrees of unfamiliar positions.

On a side note, I can't remember a bunch of ABs like this lot whose best position is arguable. Both Barretts, both Ioanes, Jordan, DH, Savea, Papalii, Blackadder, Goodhue, ALB. I am sure I have missed one or two.

If you need to bring in Cron to address the work of Feek and Plumtree, those two need to be fucked off. If Strawbridge is coming in to address the paucity of skills on attack, what the flying fuck is our current attack coach doing?

                          Did you read the article?

Well either that or by coincidence I raised two key points mentioned in the article.

It was pretty clear that these guys are being added as specialist 'experts' to add to the work being done by incumbents. Surely identifying and fixing weaknesses with experts is a good thing if no one that can add that value AND do the other work is available.
I'd say these guys are good because they concentrate on small aspects rather than be jackof all trades.

That's a remarkably public servant take on it. If you need people to come in to "add" to the unacceptable work of others, those others clearly aren't up to the task. The All Blacks shouldn't be the environment where specialist coaches need assistance coming up to the standard required.

Not a public service take at all. It's a pragmatic view on how you will be unlikely to find someone that is the best at everything.

We already acknowledge that, hence why we have a forwards coach, a scrum coach, an attack coach etc.

The best managers will refer to SMEs for advice or give them certain tasks for their areas of expertise.

See above. Foster seems to be surrounding himself with consultants. It's chapter two of "Shit Managers Handbook". A book I know well from contracting and consulting for decades.

Depends if the consultants actually add useful input and value or do what they usually do - regurgitate the latest bullshit from management "gurus" with zero knowledge of running an enterprise.

If Cron and Strawbridge can add value and specialist knowledge that's currently missing to actually improve stuff, then fine by me. Whether or not Foster and co. should have all the knowledge they need is another argument, though a very valid one.

Midfield is going to be really interesting, especially with Jordie Barrett throwing his hat into the ring. Tupaea appears to have second season syndrome, and has struggled on defence. Goodhue is overcoming his second combination ACL/MCL rupture, but it will be interesting to see how he goes by playoffs time. Ennor is well below international level as a centre.

                            Certainties:

                            Ioane
                            ALB (injured?)

                            12 options:

                            Tupaea
                            Havili
                            RTS
                            J Barrett
                            Goodhue
(Umaga-Jensens need more game time to be considered)

                            13 options:

                            Fainga'anuku
                            Goodhue
(PUJ needs more game time to be considered)

We could see a back line such as the following at some stage this year, which would be interesting:

                            9 Smith
                            10 B Barrett
                            11 Clarke
                            12 J Barrett
                            13 R Ioane
                            14 Reece
                            15 Jordan

I've barely watched a minute of rugby this year but now I'm ready to get back into the game! Fůck I'm ahead of the curve. When JB leads us to RWC glory next year at 12 all the naysayers can go root a giraffe.

@Rancid-Schnitzel you better get the tissues ready before reading this !!!!!

I've barely watched a minute of rugby this year but now I'm ready to get back into the game! Fůck I'm ahead of the curve. When JB leads us to RWC glory next year at 12 all the naysayers can go root a giraffe.

He was probably the best player on the park and he was only 19. Yet there were still people desperate to write him off.

He put a try on a plate for Julian S, but he shelled it. That was the series win right then and there

No, I still like ALB but I like the idea of game breakers in the Backline.
To put ALB in I would have to put Ioane back on the wing, and I like Leicester in there with Clarke as a line breaker to bring on latter.Although I would be happy to swap Leicester and Reiko and have them the other way around.
ALB would be next if There was a injury or loss of form.
