I've just watched Part V. Easily the best episode so far.
So, so good.
##spoiler
A few continuity errors ( will rewatch to make sure ) as hordes of stormtroopers were gunned/sliced down but their bodies seemed to vanish as if it were a video game.Loved the flashbacks with Annie/Obi Wan even if I am a bit depressed that a bloke younger than me ( Hayden Christensen ) needs to be digitally de aged.
So cool seeing Vader toying with the third sister but for fuck sake man, don’t pull the old “assume they’re dead” cliche when they’re clearly still fighting and breathing !
##endspoiler##spoiler
Were they really that de-aged? It looked to me like make-up only and I was quite pleased that a bad CGI wasn't done.
Great to see a decent lightsaber fight though.
Some real suspend all belief moments but that's par for the course, this isn't a reality show.

@Crucial ##spoiler
yes it was, and it was pretty ropey at times.
##endspoilerWell I'm glad my eyesight isn't what is used to be then. It didn't bother me.
##spoiler
For a TV show, the CGI is incredible. Spoiled by movie quality effects, so it stands out when it looks "bad". My son was hoping for a Clone Wars era flashback, so he was happy to see it. He's fully in the target demographic and loving it.I'm having to explain that people complain for clicks, and if you enjoy something that's all that matters. There is no objective good/bad for art, just individual subjective opinion. The current online response to new shows (like some posts on this thread) are just toxic/gross.
Key to enjoy it for what it is, not what you think it should be (non of this is directed at you, btw).

Agree this was the best of the lot so far.
Watched it with my 8yo and straight after we watched Episode III again.

@Crucial It's all very cartoonish, the action pretty lame. But I'm enjoying it cos of Ewan, who is a great actor. Pretty mcuh SW, a fairy story in spaaaaaaaaaaace

The planet has a blade runner/ SW Rebels feel to it. Not a bad watch, if not the swashbuckling fun fest that is Mando

Loved it. Good finish too.
Looking forward to Andor now.

Equal parts great fun and irritating I thought……
##spoiler
The DV clash was sensational but I find it hard to believe that Obi Wan just walked away…..AGAINI’m assuming DV has some sort of panel beaters to fix him up when he gets damaged which brings me to this point….
How did the third sister survive a lightsaber stab and then get to tattooine before Obi Wan ? Seriously, she was running around and fighting like nothing had happened ( although how Owen and Beru go from being tough enough to be taking on an inquisitor to getting executed by Storm Troopers is anyones guess ) What is with all these OP new characters ?
What happens to her now ? Would have made much more sense if DV actually killed her.
But yeah, very good series overall, terrific action and Ewen McGregor and even little Leia were fantastic. Loved the predictable Qui Gonn cameo too

Fair enough if you enjoyed it. There was enough key jangling there to keep the nostalgia factor pumping. But on the whole this was a steaming pile. Star Wars is like a great rock band of the past still living off songs from decades ago. Their new stuff is garbage but they only need to play some old tunes and enough people will be happy.

I get what you’re trying to say even if you’re probably being a bit harsh.
The old characters are the ones I care about……I couldn’t give a fuck about Ice Cubes son, the chick from GOT, the inquisitors or the fake Jedi.
Fuck, even Owen and Beru mean more than any of them.
That’s why I like Rogue One the best of the newer films cos it ties in with that era.

That's my point. Disney SW is living off the fumes of the OT. The new characters are mostly shit and they're reliant on nostalgia bait to keep things going. Even the Mandalorian was just a Boba Fett rip off.
It's a shame because there could have been a great series here. Apparently the first draft was of a Sand People war and Obi having to assist without revealing he's a Jedi. That IMHO sounds much better than babysitting Lea and smashing cannon.

No it doesn't. It sounds boring AF unless you want some kind of serious plotline stuff in what is a good v bad fantasy serial.
I prefer to watch SW shows with my 13yr old hat on. Don't over complicate things or search for plot holes or character flaws. SW the original had tons of unbelievable moments and crappy dialogue yet it was one of the best movies ever.
Stop over thinking and if you don't enjoy it for what it is don't watch it.As for 'smashing' canon, if anything this show went out of the way to fill in the gaps and plotholes created by canon.
##spoiler
Vader killed your father - tick
How did Leia know of Obi Wan and why did she search him out for help? - tick
Why hadn't Vader searched out Obi Wan for a decade or so? - tick
The 'last time we met' statement? - tick
How stilted and clumsy lightsaber fighting gets when you are out of practice - tick
Tying the force ghost stuff from ROTJ back into OBW and the most obvious unknown from SW (OBW 'disappearing' when Vader struck him) - tickAbout the only thing they didn't try and fit in was a ham fisted explanation around R2D2
IMO all this is the fault of fans wanting answers for everything. Irony is that when the answers are provided they bitch about them.
The OBW v Vader battle in the finale was better than the dance moves on Mustafar IMO. Awesome stuff.
##endspoilerThere you go, now I have overthought it all
NB (I know RS has my posts blocked and won't read this but I don't care)

@Crucial You have the right attitude for this sort of show.
Hilarious watching some of the reactions online to these kids shows. Don't like it, don't watch - pretty simple.
Worth the misteps in some of execution (Leia chase, etc) for a scene like this;
##spoiler
##endspoilerIMO, they could have trimmed this to three episodes and had a pretty excellent story. Just had a bit too much padding.
