Will we lose to SA? I mean they just lost to Wales at home so it sounds like they aren't exactly hot shit this year, not that I've watched. And if we win that's more than enough for NZR to claim we are "building towards the RWC", which is so offensive as an AB fan when we are giving up 100+ year records.

Thought so. I wouldn't want to be Fozz's assistant either. What does he have to gain, how much of himself can he tangibly give to the team without being the HC? Fozz is beyond redemption and Scott is the winningest coach in Super Rugby. I'm no Razor fanboy. But he needs to be given full control

@stodders Foz has never done well as a head coach. 8 years of pain with the Chiefs, Ronnie takes 2 titles in his first 2 years.
Not his happy place - like Wayne Smith, but the poor man's version! -
Who would be the assistant coaches?
Jason Ryan (Fiji) and Tom Coventry (Samoa) have done good work as forward coaches for PI teams.

Before 2007 we had a slash and burn mentality. Continuity was the right decision then. But this isn't 2007, the GH/Shag coaching tree has outlived its time. Burn it all down
Foster was the only part of the GH/Shag coaching tree that still existed at the end of 2019 as far as I can see. Arguably the tree is sprouting again with Cron coming back in as a mentor.
But its less about the tree and more about cutting off the dead wood. At the end of 2019 the old wood sprouted legs and walked away leaving the NZRFU with the dead wood. Which they planted and have reaped the fruit of their decision.
@PecoTrain yes, maybe one nepotism appointment, after WINNING a RWC is acceptable. But after losing the semi,.it should have been a new broom sweeping clean. It wasn't, and we're now here, lowest point in AB rugby ever.
