not meaning to hijack the thread too much but was also surprised how MANY Ben Smith had, considering the large gap he had after his first test, 84...bloody legend

One of the greatest ever ABs.
Our best ever fullback along with Cullen

I reckon Ben Smith should've been the World Rugby Player of the year at some point.

For a while, he played whole seasons barely making an error.

See I thought he was more dangerous as a winger than fullback because of the way he used the sideline to his advantage.

Quite liked his work as a centre too but only really saw it when Snakey was rested for that 2013 EOYT.

Class player and smart (other than that card at the RWC 😉)

          A more cheerful topic.

Will has continued on his merry try accumulating way vs Ireland. Another two tries from two tests.

Taking him to 19 test tries in all from 15 tests (11 starts, 4 off the bench).

He's now equal with Super Stu Wilson (19 tries from 33 tests) and drawn ahead of other notables including:
          Cory Jane 18
          Terry Wright 18
          Zinzan Brooke 17
          Penalty tries 18
          Waisake Naholo 16
          Sevu Reece 14
          George Bridge 12
          Nehe Milner Skudder 12
          Rico Gear 11
          Glen Osborne 11
          Craig Green 11
          BG Williams 10
          Ron Jarden 7

According to my count, he's 24th = on the AB test try scoring list.

So, is he the fastest to get to this point?

          Well, yes and no.

I'm pretty sure the other two who came out of the try-scoring blocks like comparable machines were Cully and Joe Rok (I'm prepared to take submissions on others). Will is faster than Cully to this point, but by some counts not as fast as Joe.

Joe scored his 19th try (and in fact his 20th and 21st) in his 14th test. So in terms of total test appearances Joe is faster.

But, Will has only started 11 tests and in fact only played the full 80 minutes in 5 - where Joe start all 14 and was only subbed in 4 - so Will is faster in terms of test starts and tries per minute.

@Chris-B Joe Rok and Rupeni are two of the best wingers I’ve seen play because when they ran with ball in hand you just thought they would get there and score. And if they didn’t make it, something would be set up for a team mate more often than not.

          Jordan is the same.

I'm in the minority, but I think Jordan's linking work is still pretty shoddy. But having lost all faith in the coaching, I wouldn't be surprised to see a turn around in this aspect under a different regime.

@Bones linking once he has ball in hand? as in looking for support? i can see that, conversely he is amazing at timing a run to receive the ball from someone else, you never see him having to slow a run or have a ball drop in front of him, always right there are the right time....and then runs away from everyone 😉

I reckon my footy career would have been quite a bit more fun if I'd had the speed, size and skills of any of those three! 🙂

Yeah that, on your converse I point you to last year, when to me he seemed to put a lot of ball down - no idea where the blame lies for that though, as potentially it's just teammates not being used to him. It was evident (to me) in the crusaders and ABs last year, but he improved hugely this year for the saders, so I was hoping to see a massive jump this year for the ABs - covid and coaching getting in the way though.

I reckon Ben Smith should've been the World Rugby Player of the year at some point.

For a while, he played whole seasons barely making an error.

-12 tries? Where are the highlights? I assume the video will be longer to account for the change in speed from Jordan?

                                      A more cheerful topic.

Will has continued on his merry try accumulating way vs Ireland. Another two tries from two tests.

Taking him to 19 test tries in all from 15 tests (11 starts, 4 off the bench).

He's now equal with Super Stu Wilson (19 tries from 33 tests) and drawn ahead of other notables including:
                                      Cory Jane 18
                                      Terry Wright 18
                                      Zinzan Brooke 17
                                      Penalty tries 18
                                      Waisake Naholo 16
                                      Sevu Reece 14
                                      George Bridge 12
                                      Nehe Milner Skudder 12
                                      Rico Gear 11
                                      Glen Osborne 11
                                      Craig Green 11
                                      BG Williams 10
                                      Ron Jarden 7

According to my count, he's 24th = on the AB test try scoring list.

So, is he the fastest to get to this point?

                                      Well, yes and no.

I'm pretty sure the other two who came out of the try-scoring blocks like comparable machines were Cully and Joe Rok (I'm prepared to take submissions on others). Will is faster than Cully to this point, but by some counts not as fast as Joe.

Joe scored his 19th try (and in fact his 20th and 21st) in his 14th test. So in terms of total test appearances Joe is faster.

But, Will has only started 11 tests and in fact only played the full 80 minutes in 5 - where Joe start all 14 and was only subbed in 4 - so Will is faster in terms of test starts and tries per minute.

                                      15 test

Sitiveni Sivivatu had 18 tries in his first 15 tests (three of those matches and four of those tries were for the Pacific Islanders).

In his first 15 tests for the ABs, he managed 16 tries.

He scored 26 tries in his first 26 tests but they started to dry up pretty quickly after that (six tries in his remaining 22 tests).
