@voodoo He is a moron, a traitor, and portrayed by the worst actor in living memory. God damn that movie was stupid. I spent half of it laughing.

A traitor to who? He saved a race of people , and he commanded the bestest flying dinosaur-thingee in the land.

Then he got the (slightly elongated) girl

    Legend

I know it’s heresy to diss Avatar on the Fern but I’m no great fan. Great visuals as you say but a plot lifted from countless other tired old films.

All sizzle and no steak is my view.

I didn't know that, I think because I've avoided discussions as I didn't want any spoilers.

They showed some footage from the next one at the end which didn't make me excited about seeing it.

@voodoo Now's your chance to go see it at the cinema in 3D again. Event have half price Tuesdays.

I think you may have seen the remastered and according to James Cameron (at least visually) better version?

Sam Worthington is an actor? I thought he was a breathing household appliance...

Maaate. Have you forgotten all the fapping about the groundbreaking SFX and how amazing it was at the beginning? There may have been a degree of revisionism since but nowhere near enough for my liking. I will only be convinced otherwise if I now see a slew* of bad reviews here immediately.

*I am the sole arbiter of what constitutes a slew.

I'm a Weta and CGI fan. I even like some of James Cameron's movies and docos.
Avatar was a mickle* of hippie-in-space xenoarchaeological cliches, a borrowed pastiched mess where the CGI outacted the human actors (apart from Weaver and Lang, but they were ingloriously wasted in this movie).

*I see your slews and raise you a mickle.

    That planet called earth!

Just because he got his dick sucked and put his tail in a blue horses' vagina, that doesn't stop him being human. He would've been easy pickings for a pretty fraulein in WW2.

He was blinded by blue alien pussy (and that weird horse stuff). Scumbag.

Confess Fletch. The reboot of the Fletch movie series from the 80's with Chevy Chase. Now set in the 2020's staring John Hamm who is perfect in the role. Comedy/mystery with a good plot and lots of laughs. Some great one-liners "maybe someday I will understand sex from behind"

UNOBTANIUM!!! 😹 I forgot thats what they called it

seen it 1.5 times, couldn't make it through a second time, the CGI was impressive but as someone who plays +20 year old video games if they have a good plot...there is only so long i can watch an add for a computer or TV...in hind site it reminds me of those videos they play in appliance shops to show how good their tvs are

will watch the new one when it turns up on a streaming service

Yes, this was the first time I've ever seen Avatar.

So it seems I've held out longer. Nothing about it made me want to watch it.

Yeah, I think I only went out of FOMO. I clearly wasn't interested enough to go see it back in 2009.

Yes. No point watching it on the small screen at home in 2D. Was half price Tuesday so didn't break the bank.

Like @voodoo I also saw it in 3D back on release. From the review I read the updated 3D version is a big improvement.

anyone who watched it in cinemas when it first came out and didn't think it was one of the most visually amazing things they had seen is a lying piece of shit.

Watching it on TV some 13 years later and judging it is not giving the film its fair due.

will i go see the 2nd one? i will absolutely not.
