    @mariner4life Brumbies loss last week is likely to cost them a home semi even if they win tonight

    It's not just the home final
    They lost to an Aussie team one week, thrn best the top kiwi side the next week is a good sign

    The strongest NZ sides are still too good for most of the comp, but if they fuck around and rest players then they are in danger. A couple of years of continuity and it will get tighter I reckon.

      The link to Us/Japan markets comes from recruitment from those countries to help fill rosters. Totally up to the franchise how they want to position themselves, but it may make some sense for marketing if you picked a few overseas stars and played some pre season stuff somewhere else.

      A comp wil a number of teams of a similar level to MP would not be high quality. US/Japan level players would be a level below MP IMO.

      I like the broadcast ideas, that would possibly fit in nicely

      I hope someone in NZR are looking into these sorts of options, if it's obvious to us I'm sure it's obvious to them. This is where Sky being intertwined with NZR is a negative.

      Below or at. The idea would be to re spread the NZ talent, keep Drua, add in some good players from Japan/US/Canada ( only good ones and they do exist) plus add in some from Europe.
      We can usually make up a tem of decent players that miss out on Super each year as well.
      Maybe 10 is too many to start with? Start at 8 or 9 with expansion plans.
      Key would be that you start with a player auction type thing. Protect x number from areas, ask for free agent players and put those in a pool to bid for, allow marquee players as well

          Top 5 scenarios

          1. Chiefs (locked in)
          2. Crusaders unless they lose without a bonus to Canes AND Blues beat Highlanders with a bonus AND there's a 34 point swing
          3. Blues, unless the above scenario happens and they jump to 2nd. Brumbies would need a win against Rebels and a Blues loss OR Blues to win without a bonus and a huge win.
          4. Brumbies unless they lose to the Rebels AND the Canes beat the Saders.
          5. Canes, unless they beat Saders and Brumbies lose.

          Odds are that the table wont change at this end.
          Canes have most to gain if they could get to 4th and avoid a trip to Canberra.

          If that happens and all quarters are played in NZ expect Oz to tune out.

            Yay, looking like the Canes over to Canberra for the second year in a row. FFS.

            Hopefully we've learned something from last year but with Holland at the helm I doubt it.

              Brumbies are only a point behind the Blues

              If the Blues lose and Brumbies win they swap positions. The huge win to change points diff only comes into to it if the Blues win without a bonus point

                  The race for the bottom: 7th and 8th (Tahs sit safely in 6th). So many permutations. There are 4 matches that will impact this and each match has 4 possible outcomes (more if looking at PD)
                  As one of Drua or Reds will pick up Points there is really only one spot being contested

                  Highlanders need to either win, or hope that all of Drua, Force and Rebels lose and that the Blues don't beat them by a much bigger margin than the Force lose by.

                  Rebels and Drua must win for a chance.

                    The Rebels could be eliminated by Friday night so the other teams will have a clearer picture of what they need to do to make the 8.

                    The Highlanders would also finish ahead of the Force if they end up on the same points (assuming the Blues don't thrash them).

                    In the event of two or more teams being equal on competition points for any position on either the Competition table, either during or at the end of the season, such position will be decided upon using the following steps until the tie is broken:
                    a) Most wins from all matches;
                    b) Highest aggregate points difference from all matches;
                    c) Most tries from all matches;
                    d) Highest aggregate difference of total tries for versus tries scored against from all matches;
                    e) Coin toss

                      Anyone have any idea which seeded teams will be playing on which nights? I've looked at historical seedings at 1st seed isn't always on the Saturday night. My schools show is on Friday night next week and will be pissed if the Chiefs are on Friday night lmao, but I feel like it's likely if its v Drua.

                        @Yeetyaah I don't think they look at seeding for scheduling the QFs. I think they look at when teams have played their games the previous week.

                          @Stargazer right so might be a safe bet that the Chiefs are on Saturday considering they're at midnight our time and have to fly back from Perth?

                            @Yeetyaah You'd hope so. If they look at who played when this weekend, it would mean that - if the table stays the same at the top - the Blues and/or Brumbies play their QF on Friday, and the Chiefs and Crusaders on Saturday. And if there's only one QF on Friday, they should pick the team based on when the opponent last played or have to travel from. But maybe there are also other factors like stadium availability, teams having other preferences or Sky's logistics, I don't know. :man_shrugging_medium_skin_tone:

                              After Friday night's results only the 7th and 8th positions are yet to be confirmed.

                              The Blues (3) will host the Waratahs (6), while the Hurricanes (5) travel to Canberra to play the Brumbies (4).

                                A Force win should see them take 7th.
                                A Drua win could see them still miss out if Reds get a BP

                                        Possibility but hard to tell if we saw a Saders side going to sleep on a dead rubber or a good Canes side.
                                        Brumbies have lost a bit recently through injuries and seem clueless when their maul isn’t working.
                                        Definitely the toughest pick although Blues/Tahs could be interesting on the day. Blues fumbling their way along at the moment and the Tahs can be good for spells.

                                          Blues win
                                          Chiefs slaughter
                                          Crusaders win comfortably
                                          But a possibility of an upset in Canberra

                                          Possibility but hard to tell if we saw a Saders side going to sleep on a dead rubber or a good Canes side.

                                          @Crucial tahs were appalling last night, showed nothing to farewell hoops, opposite of canes.

                                          BBBR may pick apart brumbies maul, I can't see short ineffectual perpetual motion machine Blackwell doing the same!

                                          Top saders will easily over come what will be an over excited Drua imo.

                                          Chiefs quite a team apart ATM, going in with momentum and depth
