    @Kiwiwomble Not named in any SR squad, unfortunately. No further news yet.

    these things will also not improve.

    I'm on board with the rest of the post but geez, that's pretty out there.

    dont think its too crazy an idea that players don't tend to get FASTER as the age...and speed plays a roles in how he creates mismatches

    Except that's not what I was talking about.

    what were you talking about then because you quoted

    He was clearly our best option at 10 this year, but his strengths were his speed and eye for a mismatch in broken play. Those things will not improve over time.

    No, I didn't quote that. The word "also" in the bit I quoted gives you a hint as to what bit I was talking about - as does voodoo's response 😉

    @SBW1 Maybe RM is thinking of the future of the ABs and not his own future in the ABs. New 10s need test experience before they can get settled. Perhaps RM is getting out of the way. If only B Barrett had the same mindset - he's been clogging both the AB 10 and 15 conveyor belt since 2019.

    This is just fan fiction. Mo'unga made it clear his move was about making more money (with the token 'experiencing a new culture' thrown in)

    No problem with Mo'unga opting for money. That's a personal choice players have to make. Why pretend it's something more noble? Just to bash another player?

    @Duluth

    Barrett is not clogging it up, the selectors make their choices and if he still wants to be available, then that's excellent news.

    Would I select him? Probably not, but equally there is much we don't know - I'm sure that I've read players saying that Barrett's communication and organization from 15 is what sets him apart.

    Personally, I'm excited to see what Dmac can do. He was easily the most dangerous player on the park in the final and it was a mistake to use him so late.

    He could very well come back refreshed, I would imagine he gets a lot of time at 10 in Japan and gets to hone his goalkicking and kicking game. DMAC has more of a running game and some tests like the tighter ones he may not be suitable for as a starting 10, Dunedin being a very good example. Zarn has a powerful boot, out of all the prospects I would really like to see him step up, he is big and has the ability to land a dropgoal in a pressure game.

    @Duluth Nope. Not fan fiction. I just can't see the upside of Barrett (not the best FB and not the best 10) coming back. Three years without RM will give selectors time to trial new 10s and if they're lucky one or two will be able to walk into say a RWC with +/- 20 tests worth of experience. BB's continued presence will invariably muddy the waters for either the 10 or 15 berth with selectors tempted to select based on test experience rather than form and class

    Starting to think RM might be waiting on a callup if we are left in a bind for a good 10 next year. He may be counting on rule changes. I am pretty sure some of the newbies will come through and fill the void. Aidan Morgan being a good example.

    He'll be waiting a long time, at least 3 years
