Razor is different. And thank fuck for that tbh. There is plenty of evidence that he is excellent at building outstanding rugby teams that are highly skilled, technically excellent, and big on culture as well as developing and improving players.

I get what you are saying about working with what you have got. But, so many players have developed into ABs under Razor that I only see his as excellent in a player development role.

Exatly. And if he has 4 years and the skills to do all these things, why would you want to bring back retired players who'll be pushing 40?

It seems SW's agent sounded out NZR and NZR engaged. Sounds like both parties doing their jobs. I really don't get why this is such a big deal. If they can come to an agreement that sees SW come back, great. I'd rather SW's experienced shared in NZ than France. They have enough of our intellectual capital.

It's a huge deal if you're trying to be as contrary under Razor's reign as you were under Foster's.

@Victor-Meldrew I think maybe he see’s an opportunity to bring back an all time great and one of his most trusted lieutenants in a position that we are short in for experience.

It’s a specific role for what hopefully will be a short term problem.

And it appears it was initiated by the agent not Razor chasing him.

And with the attritional year we have ahead of us, perhaps he doesn’t fancy having tupou Vai’i as his senior lock when the inevitable injuries occur.

Imagine the moans if it came out that SW approached NZR about coming home and they ignored the approach or told him to go away.

Looks like Roigard could be out for quite some time. Battle between Fakatava and Christie?

Roigard and Fakatava seem like our best two halfbacks at the moment. I haven't really been following it closely this year. Is that accurate? Anyone else in the picture? Christie looked barely OK tonight.

    @Canes4life

TJP has looked good coming on as a replacement. Fakatava then TJ in my book with Ratima in the mix.

EDIT: Christie hasn't impressed so far this year but think he'll be in the discussion.

Right, this is what I am seeing AB wise.
Props- Canes loosehead props seriously pushing for higher honors as well as the Crusaders' props reinforcing their credentials. The big loser in this could be Ofa
Hooker- Aumua looks the goods for reinstatement. Added a tight component to his running game.
Finau should be one of the first on the list.
Sotutu looking the goods for reinstatement.
Roigard is superlative - pray for a recovery.
    DMac then daylight.
    Telea
Stevenson deserves another shot (His territorial kicking game plus counterattacking combo with DMac...).

That youngster, Justin Sanger, certainly added some horsepower to Canes scrum when he came on.

Agree with most mate, not convinced about Stevenson though. But all in all there a few of those players putting up hands for sure.

I had Roigard, Ratima and TJ so far. Roigard was looking fucking brilliant, like Marshall but with a sweet pass. Gutted.

Time for Fakatava to sort his shit out.

Knew Roigard was the deal last year vs SA at Twickenham. Laser focus.

I didn't actually read too much into that amazing individual try as the game was effectively over. But the way he played absolute dross in one game but calmed down and sorted himself out was seriously impressive. Maturity beyond his years to go with his talent.

Haven't watched last night's game yet and gave no idea how he went, but my gut feel is he's been quiet this year.

This must be a troll? He scored three trys and was his usual untackle-able self.

You talking last night? Sorry thought I made it clear I hadn't watched last night yet.

And it was my gut feel over the season perhaps influenced by high expectations. Certainly felt the Saders kept him under control.

    I'd still pick him.
