its because about 4 years ago she tweeted something along the lines of - i will support your right to dress how you like, i'll march alongside you to fight for equal rights and against discrimination, but don't you can't make me believe that a man can become a woman or that said person should be allowed in women only spaces.
massively controversial.
Since then, she's become more outspoken in favour of women's rights and spaces and has called out politicians etc who have equivocated or bought into the mantra that 'trans women are women'.
More power to her and the other prominent feminists who've stood up against this bullying group of TRAs.
As for the play mentioned above, its an indication that the tide is turning as the lovie elite who would previously have worn a rainbow flag and preached the TWAW mantra without thought are now worried that their opinions might actually be critically scrutinised.
Ironically they can thank a Scot - David Tennant - for cleaning the lens from which this is viewed by the general public outside the trans and entertainment bubble
No audience = no roles = no money = irrelevant
David has been eerily quiet the past two weeks

And the real victims in this war are the people suffering from genuine gender dysphoria.
Thing is, I don't know how many of those people there actually are or if it really even exists. I'm convinced that most of the children (usually girls) supposedly suffering from this are basically involved in a social contagion, along the lines of anorexia in the 80s and 90s. And most of the middle aged men believing they're women are doing it for AGP reasons.
I think a bit of honesty around the subject would go a long way to 'curing' a lot of people.
Gender Dysphoria appears to be real, and can cause serious mental health issues. Transitioning works for some people but not others - serious step which needs to be done very carefully.
Ms Meldrew 1 is a shrink and she would totally agree on social contagion. Believes vast majority is down to kids being confused about their sexuality and would only recommend people being treated at 21 or 23 and over
i'm always curious about the claim that transition works for some people not others, as a. there is no data being collected anywhere in the world about the efficacy of different treatments and b. just because some people claim that they're much happier doesn't make it so (and its not like there is a control version running alongside).
I'm of the admittedly unsupported opinion that many people who go down the road of transitioning or supporting their children to transition are so pyschologically committed to the transition being the right answer that they can't physically admit to themselves that it might have been a mistake because the consequences of that realisation would be so damaging.
-
There appears to be evidence transitioning works, but only after extensive therapy didn't do the trick and checks to make sure it is the right thing to do. You had to live fully as a women for a year or so in the UK, I think. Cornell Research
But the numbers have rocketed in recent year and it'd be reasonable to doubt the same level of checking before transition takes place now. That's the scandal for me.

i don't have the time right now to unpick that research, and perhaps will never have the inclination, but the CASS review (all be it primarily focussed on children's care) seems to have gone further in its analysis of the research:
https://cass.independent-review.uk/home/publications/final-report/
While a considerable amount of research has been published in this field, systematic evidence reviews demonstrated the poor quality of the published studies, meaning there is not a reliable evidence base upon which to make clinical decisions, or for children and their families to make informed choices.
The strengths and weaknesses of the evidence base on the care of children and young people are often misrepresented and overstated, both in scientific publications and social debate.
The controversy surrounding the use of medical treatments has taken focus away from what the individualised care and treatment is intended to achieve for individuals seeking support from NHS gender services.
The rationale for early puberty suppression remains unclear, with weak evidence regarding the impact on gender dysphoria, mental or psychosocial health. The effect on cognitive and psychosexual development remains unknown.
The use of masculinising / feminising hormones in those under the age of 18 also presents many unknowns, despite their longstanding use in the adult transgender population. The lack of long-term follow-up data on those commencing treatment at an earlier age means we have inadequate information about the range of outcomes for this group.
Clinicians are unable to determine with any certainty which children and young people will go on to have an enduring trans identity. For the majority of young people, a medical pathway may not be the best way to manage their gender-related distress. For those young people for whom a medical pathway is clinically indicated, it is not enough to provide this without also addressing wider mental health and/or psychosocially challenging problems.

Think you spelt "is a" wrong.

It's so insane that a fringe mental illness (dysphoria) turned into a political movement

Yeah, I just read the summary and scanned the UK one from 2014.
Cass was focusing on the kids and puberty blockers and mastectomies at 14-18 which is simply mutilation. For me there's a big difference between that and an adult who's gone through a long process to check if it's the right thing.

Reaping what you sow.
A book influencer has been sacked by Waterstones after claiming she would enjoy “tearing up” a book by a gender-critical author, Christina Dalcher
Tilly Fitzgerald had built up a 90,000-strong online following for her book reviews and recommendations shared under the name Tilly Loves Books. She was sacked by Waterstones after stating in an online post that she would enjoy “tearing up” and binning books by a gender-critical author Christina Dalcher
Several hours later, after her comments had been flagged to Waterstones, Tilly posted a tearful video message in which she explained that she was “heartbroken” after being sacked by the bookshop chain.

Fantastic
One of many who will die from 'lack of oxygen' as the tide goes out
Great response from Waterstones
Effectively it's none of your business

Good on her
Hope every other opponent does the same. Although it would be great if someone put her/him on her/his arse
Massive asterisk against the medal

Ultimately this will be good for women's sport, as much as it's bullshit for those currently participating.

Be great to see the other female boxers refuse to compete against him and the Taiwanese bloke and ensure the whole thing is recorded as a total farce.
But then why should they have to throw away the years of training and their lifetime ambition for this shit?

Actually, having read the thread on @Victor-Meldrew 's post my feelings have morphed a bit.
Carini didn't pull out on principal. She didn't make a choice. She got smacked, and smacked hard, and pulled out as self-preservation. Should not have been put in that position.
Poor girl.
