It's so insane that a fringe mental illness (dysphoria) turned into a political movement

    @Dodge

Yeah, I just read the summary and scanned the UK one from 2014.

Cass was focusing on the kids and puberty blockers and mastectomies at 14-18 which is simply mutilation. For me there's a big difference between that and an adult who's gone through a long process to check if it's the right thing.

Tilly Loves Books sacked by Waterstones over comments about gender-critical author

Tilly Loves Books sacked by Waterstones over comments about gender-critical author

Book influencer Tilly Fitzgerald said she would ‘tear up’ books by Christina Dalcher who is against gender ideology

A book influencer has been sacked by Waterstones after claiming she would enjoy “tearing up” a book by a gender-critical author, Christina Dalcher

Tilly Fitzgerald had built up a 90,000-strong online following for her book reviews and recommendations shared under the name Tilly Loves Books. She was sacked by Waterstones after stating in an online post that she would enjoy “tearing up” and binning books by a gender-critical author Christina Dalcher

Several hours later, after her comments had been flagged to Waterstones, Tilly posted a tearful video message in which she explained that she was “heartbroken” after being sacked by the bookshop chain.

    Fantastic

One of many who will die from 'lack of oxygen' as the tide goes out

    Great response from Waterstones

Effectively it's none of your business

Not a good Olympic look, but could become one of the memories of these games.

    Good on her

Hope every other opponent does the same. Although it would be great if someone put her/him on her/his arse

    Massive asterisk against the medal

Ultimately this will be good for women's sport, as much as it's bullshit for those currently participating.

Be great to see the other female boxers refuse to compete against him and the Taiwanese bloke and ensure the whole thing is recorded as a total farce.

But then why should they have to throw away the years of training and their lifetime ambition for this shit?

Actually, having read the thread on @Victor-Meldrew 's post my feelings have morphed a bit.

Carini didn't pull out on principal. She didn't make a choice. She got smacked, and smacked hard, and pulled out as self-preservation. Should not have been put in that position.

    Poor girl.

So it turns out this Algerian competitor is not trans, but has XY chromosomes ...

I'm not touching this debate again.

Letting males with DSD compete against biological women is just insane. When the hell will this madness end.

“I am heartbroken. I was told a lot of times that I was a warrior but I preferred to stop for my health. I have never felt a punch like this. After the second blow to the nose, I couldn’t breathe any more. I went to my coach and said ‘enough’. It could have been the match of a lifetime, but I had to preserve my life as well in that moment.”

Males have higher bone density than females, among a host of other advantages, even with DSD as they still had elevated levels of testosterone during puberty. It's self evident that a male punching a female will do more damage than a male punching a male. In a combat sport I just cannot believe they have allowed it, the science on this and also trans women is clear and easy to understand.
