    Have to feel for Blackadder

But it's time for the coach to throw in the towel

It's obvious Blackadder isn't going to quit

And you have to admire that tenacity at least

Some might see shuffling off to Japan as quitting....

Be heroic if he does that and be disgusting if Sotutu leaves, no doubt.

Phew. I was about to add to the WTF with Sotutu theme, but now I don't have to.

Even I can't figure out the point of this post now.

Oh and interesting to see one player pull out as he's injured and can't offer his best. But another eternally injured player clogging up space..

So Sotutu has been playing NPC on an injured knee.
Might explain a few things to his detractors.

Evidence says you're better off not playing apparently. Then you can earn more money for not playing at a higher level.

He must have bumped Blackadder in the lobby, contagious niggle.

Probably code for "I give up"

              can't like that one.

                Saw this on Reddit:

He actually is injured. Went to UniSports Physio in Auckland and he had an appointment, he was limping heavily.

Im pleasantly surprised to see that they actually asked him to be there

However very interesting some of that wording about whether he wants to be or not. I would love for someone to actually ask him rather than create further rumours that he has already thrown in the towel to play elsewhere.

Sounds like a bullshit take on the facts - Razor said both Counties and All Blacks medical staff agreed he has a knee injury that rules him out.

I see no evidence of that happening.

The guy was selected off no rugby, having never set the world on fire in a black jersey and is still being selected despite there being a high degree of certainty he'll struggle to be available 50% of the time. Baffling.

True, though part of the reason he keeps coming back is because nobody has taken the chance. Feels like we are about to see a bit of changing of the guard imo.

Nobody? Somebody called Wallace seemed to go alright.

He’s v inexperienced though. Wallace is basically a Grommet; therefore the jury is still out.

This 2022 forward pack for the U20s is looking like a glimpse into the next few years. I reckon that loosie trio could be together in the senior squad soon enough.https://www.rugby.com.au/match-centre/68e899d9ee85768c5?tab=Player-Lineup

That's what I'm referring to regarding a changing of the guard. Despite Blackadder being made of glass, there hasn't been obviously better players (I don't want a Ioane or Sotutu argument here)

Sititi, Lakai, and I reckon Haig if he gets a crack are straight up test match footballers, who will put the likes of Blackadder and Jacobson out to pasture.

@frugby so if we put aside the two players that are obviously better than Blackadder, there hasn't been any players obviously better? That's not the strongest argument I've ever heard..

@frugby so if we put aside the two players that are obviously better than Blackadder, there hasn't been any players obviously better? That's not the strongest argument I've ever heard..

Akira is gone. You are pretty bloody unlikely to get selected if you're leaving unless you've been a fixture in the ABs.
Sotutu was the best player in Super rugby. Better than Jacobson and Dalton and Finau too. If Cane and Savea had been playing, he would have been better than them too - shoulda been selected, no argument there. But I don't think it's a stretch to say Blackadder has outperformed Jacobson, Dalton, Finau and Cane in the ABs since being selected.

Blackadder actually (finally) played a game against the Blues this super season, with Sotutu and Ioane both playing. The pretty woeful Crusaders won against the champion Blues and Blackadder scored a try and made 27/27 tackles.

As for selection leeway, the ABs have had a 'don't lose your spot from injury' policy for ages - and Blackadder might be there forever based on his injury rate, so you may as well get used to it.

He wasn't nec. arguing for them but pointing out the weakness of the argument.
And if Havili is an AB fixture well I have no words. I agree Cane is a fixture, he moves like one!

On track to be the first AB to be a team fixture for over a decade and get less than 50 caps.
