Leave Roigard on the bench as we need impact and he can bring it.
Ratima may not have been great v England but has played well all year
Poss look at bringing CR on with 30min to go rather than 20?

I think Cam gets them moving quicker and is more aggressive, be a shame for him to have less minutes.

Or do we stop looking at this in terms of better players start? The second unit played very well to kill off the game. In fact I liked their pattern better than the first half team. Cam could come on at half time. DMac was very assured when he came on too, a real impact. Patty T too

    @canefan Exactly
The bench is the 2nd wave that can also contain what Joe public think as the better players - they come on and change the pace and tempo.
They lift the guys around them and thats what we have been missing all year in that final 20min....finally looks like we may have got it right and people want to change again to having lesser players coming off the bench

25 minutes for the best players and 55 for the lesser ones? No thanks.

@kidcalder I don't think that's the case at all. Pretty bizarre selecting a poor player to start, just so the guy that replaces him is better.

Genuinely how I see it, feels like I'm being gaslit.

Should we have brought in Lomu/Cullen/Carter off the bench because they'll be SUPER effective against tired defenders??

I was already pissed off enough that we only gave Roigard/Dmac 20 minutes to try get us out of the hole the starters put us in.

No surprise every game Dmac has started this year we were prone to building big leads and then our bench not finishing. I don't think the reverse of that is better by bringing in inferior bench players to START the first 60.

If you're advocating for guys like BB to start because the player who replaces him is better, that's really what you're saying.

Actually Im not a BB fan and I prefer Dmac to start and BB to bench as I also believe BB plays better off the bench
I would like Sititi to start at 8 and Savea on the bench ( not necessarily to replace Sititi ...maybe at 7)
The player i had mentioned was only Roigard who at this time I think is better off the bench rather than starting... my opinion - his strength and pace v tiring forwards can change the game.
That is right now... not next year or WC

For me, it's more a horses for courses situation. Unfortunately we can't replay the match all over again, changing the starters around to see how they would have reacted in the reverse roles

Halfback is not a position which it matters so much to have impact as the forwards. (such as bringing on Patty T)

Provided the halfback is fit enough to play the style, you can keep him on for as long as you need, especially if he's superior to the other option - as we did with Aaron Smith.

I'd say you start Roigard, and replace him if he begins to fade.

Ireland, as number 1 side in the world and playing at home, are rightly the bookmakers' favourite to win this one. Form suggests they will win too. Can the All Blacks create an upset?

Beauden Barrett and Codie Taylor failed their HIAs so I assume will be unavailable.

Barring injury, think there'll be little change from the team that played England. Maybe TJP ahead of Ratima. and Roigard to start.

Exceot Hotham doesn't have sheer pace. He's not slow, but speed isn't one of his assets.
