@Chris always good Info from you Chris cheers, makes me think Cam Millar might have a Welsh or Scottish granny lol

With a name like Cam(eron)? And Millar, a miller, a vocation with an association to Glasgow? No way!

How could anyone think that name is Scottish!

@Victor-Meldrew welcome down the rabbit hole

Hazy are challenging in some ways. They really test your process, particularly with oxygen risks post boil

Small batches are harder than large batches in a lot of ways. Temperature control is twitchy, measurements are sensitive... And you only get limited beer at the end 😄

How are you mashing? Sous vide or oven?

Cox Plate this weekend, Australia's weight for age championship. As per usual, a reasonably small field (still more than double the Might and Power).

It's sort of a weird race, in that Via Sistena returns to defend, and will again race Antino and Aeliana, who have all been in the same races this prep. The other half of the field have been racing each other as well in Treasurethe Moment and Buckaroo and to a lessor extent Globe. Too many fucking G1s in Australia, and without a raider, there isn't much hype about these same horses racing each other yet again. Probably not what the MVRC want with the race temporarily being held at Flemington next year. This is supposed to be the "best" race in Australia, but the hype around it is next to zero, especially after the Everest. Victorian Racing needs to up its game before V'Landys steals all the money (TBF creating that "grand final" day as the last day of the carnival is a great move).

You can still get $2 on VS at the moment.

@Kiwiwomble said in Rugby Championship scrapped?:

@Dan54 no i was saying the lions tour is not really comparable to us touring SA as you were suggesting because they are so infrequent, yes the tour next year will be different....but we will still have played SA within 12 months as opposed to 12 years

no, RA got $100M flat fee for the RWC and a fair chunk is already gone on debt with little making it past the super teams, and not sure how else to word im not stressing about aussie...but about how i feel a competitive RC like this year is better for the AB's than exhibition games against the SA franchise and repetitive games against the Bokke

Well Phil Waugh is a liar if you correct mate. I saw him in Inside Rugby last week saying RA has cleared debt with profit from Lions tour ($100 mill) and the money from WC will go into a fund. Who should I believe?

or....more likely i misread something (although we havent seen any change in the club scene)....i feel jumping straight to "random guy on the internet calls Waugh a liar!....news at 10".....comes across like looking for an argument

Na wasn't looking for argument, was lighthearted way of someone has missed news or something. But also saying the woe is me doesn't work coming out of Aussie for me anymore. SA were it seems almost technically bankrupt last year, NZR lost a fair chunk of money, yet when these 2 unions try to something about it, it's criminal, because Lions only tour every 12 years and they got another 100 mill (reportedly)for WC in 27, spare me the tears how NZ/SA are somehow should worry about Aus before themselves. The only ones I feel for are Argentina, and even then well it's not up to NZR and SA to fund them. Reading some forums you would think Aus rugby is a NZR dependant.

As an example mate, @MiketheSnow says I am a dolt because I shrugged and said I didn't worry what Aus do next year. I genuinely care what Aus and NZR do, but don't actively worry about it, and RA has know that this tour was going ahead for at least 2 years, and if they have chosen not to do something, I am not going to lose sleep over it.

Was a game for the ages and the performance by the forward pack was immense. I heard Tucker & Wingham made 20 tackles each

@Dan54 overall in general obviously but in Bells case the John McGlashen old boy getting the chance to play in a final against Otago of all teams is an opportunity gone begging 🙂 as an Otago fan however more than happy to not see George or Sam next week lol

Mental midget Wilson asking if because chop tackles (i.e. no arms) are common in try line defence, whether it should be penalised in open play as Wilson was twice on Saturday.

How is this retard on a televised rugby panel?

I actually agree with him in this instance....

It's either fair game all over the park or you ping it all over the park. This is where rugby lets itself down.

It's akin to football where the rules inside and outside the box are reffed differently. Tug a shirt on the halfway line..free kick. Molest someone while waiting for a corner to come in...fair game.

Im reminded of the Dan Sheehan try for the Lions in the recent series. I take issue with what Sheehan did being allowed as it would be pinged everywhere else on the pitch.

    @Dan54

I just hate dickheaded-ness in Rugby no matter where it comes from. Which was why the RWC QF was so bloody satisfying - Sexton's tears being the sweetest icing on the cake

I did too up to a point, and realised that dickheadedness comes in may forms, and I wasn't above letting a halfback etc know what I thought of him if I had managed to get him (even if a bit late etc). I know we all kind of have our rules etc, but watching Coles goad Codie Taylor into getting YCed was something I enjoyed.
I also had a former French rugby player billeted with us a few years back in Aus. part of management of a club side we looked after. This man proudly told me that he had marked Colin Meads in a couple of tests, and after a few drinks we had laughed at rugby stories etc of what happened in tests etc that he had played in against not just Abs, but others too. Take y word for it, mouthing off etc would be least dicie thing that was happening.
Same as sledging in cricket, height of dickheadedness or just getting in heads?

Our forwards were awesome this year - scrum time, lineout when Moulds was throwing, winning the contact. Ran out of gas ⛽️ in the last game with injuries etc. I loved what Heenan did for the team. Accurate, a leader, a real professional - we only have a few guys fit that fit that category - Moulds, Cory Evans leads the backs….but signs this year that players are learning to stay in games.

@Steven-Harris , Yeah, its part of Reon Grahams job description to do all of that work around development and working with other rep coaches. Some provincial coaches spend the first part of the year at Super rugby level or the new ones aren't even appointed at that time. As a recent Premier club coach, he would be fully aware of the talent in the province.
