Billy Proctor and Quinn Tupaea are probably competing for the same spot in the squad, centre. Tupaea had a far more notable NPC season last year than Billy. About the same number of games, and the same age.

@Canes4life Billy Proctor is good enough; he just has to wait his turn. I'm surprised you still don't know how it works in U20s tournaments. Every player gets game time; rotation etc etc. The best players in their position will only get picked ahead of their competitors in the finals.

@Stargazer I never mentioned Proctor shouldn't be there instead of Tupaea, I'm saying he should be atleast in that 23, I also said maybe they aren't risking him against the weaker teams in an earlier post, so yes I do know how the Under 20s works.

@Stargazer I agree. Tupaea was insane last year. I watched a bunch of games and didn't see the same impact from Proctor if we're comparing the 2. Could also be bias from me as I'm a Waikato supporter as well.

Looking at those squads, the Georgians have a bench of 13 players, in line with the new (trial) rules for U20s. I suspect they have just forgotten to include the players with the jersey numbers 24 to 28 on the NZ bench, because maybe their website person isn't aware of those new rules (assuming the NZ coaches aren't that stupid)? So @Canes4life beloved Billy Proctor may still be on the bench.

Yeah, teams are allowed to name a bench of 13 but can only use 8 of them.

I will reserve judgement but this team could struggle to get out of pool play. Will be a massive reliance on Flanders as a ball carrier and wings to create magic every time they touch ball. Just can’t see this team creating pressure for long periods of time or creating enough consistent space for outsides. This is mainly to do with lack of game managers in half’s and big ball carriers in forwards. Hope I’m wrong
