(considering they currently have an outbreak in the country) Wouldn't it have made more sense to stage it in NZ?

Answered before, there are no places for the Boks and Arg to come in here in MIQ. They've already got places booked, for months, in Oz. In addition, like last year even if there were places here, the MIQ requirements are much stricter in NZ. In Oz they can train as a team from Day 1.
EDIT: Originaly the idea was they'd both MIQ in OZ, training from Day 1, then they could use the buuble to travel to NZ.

@canefan Perth well WA currently has a 7 day average of zero and they've just implemented special rules for boats attempting to visit.

I wonder. I'm tempted to question whether the SA rugby contingent in Perth is over-estimated, but there could be quite a few ex-Kiwis and FIFOs (not sure what they are called now, Quarantine Ins, Quarantine Outs?) keen to show there are no lockdowns in WA..

Doesn't help the Boks or the Pumas though as South Africa and Argentina are on the UK Red list.
