Anyone else find this type of journalism totally unacceptable

Agree with every single thing he says.

Why do you think itโ€™s unacceptable?

People on massive salaries get paid it because they have to accept colossal criticism when they fail to meet their kpiโ€™s.

People who think this is unacceptable have been listening to too much Cindy.

@Chris-B Still got 150 posts to read to catch up, but can't proceed without commenting on your JJ Stewart points.

After the Vodanovich / Duff eras JJ revolutionised AB rugby. Cleared out the dead wood and changed the culture and attacking ethos of the team. Much like what is needed today.

It is true that we suffered from a lack of a reliable kicker but even more so from dirty fucking cheating Saffa refs. Which is why fans of a certain age will always hate losing to SA more than anyone else.

You are spot on with Vodanovich though. The parallels with Fozzie are quite stark. Only got the job because he served his time and was sort of last man standing. Took over from an iconic coach who had dome it all. Inherited a team with (more that) a few players in decline. Sounds like he was a genuine nice guy, but had no fucking clue.

Then when this was apparent to everyone after the 70 tour the fish heads at NZRFU (as was) reappointed him for the Lions tour.....

@dogmeat Anyone who watched the 1976 series against the Boks were incensed by the SA refs and the fact that we could not kick a penalty or conversion to save out lives otherwise we would have won.

I can handle the shit show to continue until the end of the year, if it's absolutely certain that Razor can take over in the new year with the coaching team he wants. Just meet all his demands. Sign him up until 2027 RWC, whatever. Just as long as it is a clean break from what we have now, and not half-arsed changes.

@Stargazer I wouldnโ€™t sign him up until 2027. He has to prove himself and show a better trajectory. Sign him until 2025 and if he fails can him. There has to be accountability even if you are the chosen one.

so, it is after midday on the Wednesday

In a week of massive massive media and online speculation, has there been anything official out of HQ? Even a Labor "announcement about an announcement"?

Other than a poorly thought out bit of social media from one person who only poured fuel on the flames?

We need to take lessons from the disciplined, consistent messaging of the Auckland TSF crew. Akira could park himself in a deckchair on halfway for the full 80 minutes and they would still challenge our eyesight if we dared mention his workrate. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cane spent three tests trying to do his job and also the work of our MIA tight five in contact. Meanwhile Ardie scores a try running at centre, gets an unintended break for most of the second test, and then gets all the kudos for 'carrying the team on his back' after the third test.

(Cane might well be cooked after a decade at the top, some serious injuries, and then attempting to carry his tight five, plus a missing colleague in the second test, but if he gets to take the fall while Foster carries on essentially as before...)

I despise that Reason gimp but he wasn't wrong here:

New Zealandโ€™s best active coaches are Scott Robertson, Dave Rennie, Wayne Smith, Leon MacDonald, Clayton McMillan and Joe Schmidt. I doubt if Foster would even make the top 20.

BTW what's Chris Boyd doing these days? He was great for the Canes. Much better Super record than Foster too but that's not saying much.

As a digression: under that model, Foster will still keep his job and apparently significant salary, propped up by a former Steamers coach and Tauranga Boys College Deputy Principal to save the day. And Sam Cane - a good Bay of Plenty lad, long time All Blacks servant, and Captain - will be the one thrown under the bus instead. So... @mariner4life ... if you don't feel some blue and yellow tinged outrage brewing by now...

                                oh i am on board.

We need to take lessons from the disciplined, consistent messaging of the Auckland TSF crew. Akira could park himself in a deckchair on halfway for the full 80 minutes and they would still challenge our eyesight if we dared mention his workrate. ๐Ÿ™‚

Should be back in NZ according to this article.
                                  https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/international/127512789/kiwi-rugby-coach-chris-boyd-banned-for-two-games-in-england-for-disrespecting-referee

Following the match, he was quoted as saying: "He didn't have enough nuts, did he? I mean it was a clear hinge. There was only one side under pressure in that series of scrums."

Sounds like he'd be entertaining at the press conference and postmatch party. Bring some nuts.

The entire panel should have been cut
(sadly i can't keep Sam's job. he needs to do that himself if ever given the chance again)

Just going by the photo-evidence, they're drinking the wrong beer.

Steinlager is never the right beer though to be fair

Looks about right, piss weak fizz for a piss weak coaching team

also leaves you feeling like shit for a couple of days after saturday

@Chris-B Poor Colin Farrell consistently picked as worst AB ever - which I don't think he was.

He was a fan favourite for Akl carving it up from fullback. So he's picked as a running fullback (as a green 21 year old) and gets the ball once in two tests!!!

Ironically IIRC he wasn't a bad kicker for Akl but the AB's decided to use BeeGee (coz that worked well in SA)and Going.

The worse decision was picking Kit - I expect to score more off the field than on it - Fawcett in 76

                                          Story of Colin's selection here...

The impression you get of Kit from McLean's book is that he was a bit of a bumptious youngster, who was not well-liked by the old hands.

I think Christian Cullen might have married his daughter?

Both past of the decade long search post-Karam for a decent fullback.
