Enough beating around the bush, here is Razor's first full squad:

    Props:
    Ethan de Groot
    Tamaiti Williams
    George Bower
    Tyrel Lomax
    Fletcher Newell
    Pouri Rakete-Stones

    Hookers:
    Codie Taylor
    Samisoni Taukei'aho
    George Bell

    Locks:
    Scott Barrett
    Josh Lord
    Quinten Strange
    Isaiah Walker-Leawere

    Loose Forwards:
    Ethan Blackadder
    Samipeni Finau
    Dalton Papalii
    Devan Flanders
    Ardie Savea (C)
    Cullen Grace
    Luke Jacobson

    Halfbacks:
    Cam Roigard
    Folau Fakatava
    Finlay Christie

    First Fives:
    Damian McKenzie
    David Havili
    Stephen Perofeta

    Midfielders:
    Jordie Barrett
    Rieko Ioane
    Anton Lienert-Brown
    Dallas McLeod
    Quinn Tupaea

    Outside Backs:
    Macca Springer
    Mark Telea
    Will Jordan
    Emoni Narawa
    Shaun Stevenson

Methinks, based on who I think will be available.

Will the first squad even be 36 men?

    • Rakete-Stones, don't think so. Mafileo is someone they clearly like the look of.
    • Walker-Leaware is just a worse version of Tupou Vaa'i
    • Blackadder and Flanders, fair enough, particularly if Cane takes his sabbatical
    • I'm not sold on Perofeta, I'd almost say Sullivan may be likely depending on which way round they play in SR
    • Forgot about Tupaea, so agree there
    • Stevenson will be an interesting one. Part of me wonder if the fact he will be 27 counts against him.

@frugby Agreed hoping sullivan will get a chance at 10 for the Blues don't think Perofeta is good enough.

@Crazy-Horse It happens all the time on here both ways and it won't stop anytime soon no matter who's coaching/what players get selected etc.

Hah go figure, I thought CH was making reference to the cantab posters bias

@African-Monkey we are indeed. It’s just too easy to wind you guys up. 7 titles in a row. What more can we say.

In typical NZR fashion we hear about them from the opposition first and dates/locations probably won't be out until next year

@chchfanatic Mate, it's an ABs thread, not a Crusaders wankathon thread haha.

On form Proctor (especially considering Ennor won't be playing for much of 2024 due to injury recovery)

One guy who is a bit of a forgotten man is TJ Perenara.

Not his biggest fan but I wonder if he's a chance if they are looking for experience in one of their 3 halfbacks with Smith and Weber gone.

Will he get enough game time to push his case? On form, and if everyone stays fit, he'll be getting ~15mins most weeks

Fakatava got picked in the first squad of 2022 with similar minutes.

Tupou Vaa’i is the latest in a string of formidable locks for the All Blacks. Vaa’i has filled in superbly when his number has been called.

He’s about as formidable as Ennor is good at tackling. I still remember Robbie Henshaw brushing him off like he didn’t even exist

That's hilarious. He's probably the most underwhelming AB lock I have ever seen, even more so than Isaac Ross.

If Josh Lord manages to gain a few kilos of muscle, then he could well be the incumbent, alongside Scott Barrett. When is Holland eligible. He's the one with the highest ceiling, IMO.

@cgrant Lord should already be the incumbent, he's got enough size.

Too skinny. Pari Pari Parkinson is a much better bet

Classic line from a Herald article

Tupou Vaa’i is the latest in a string of formidable locks for the All Blacks. Vaa’i has filled in superbly when his number has been called.

That's hilarious. He's probably the most underwhelming AB lock I have ever seen, even more so than Isaac Ross.

Agree with first sentence. Second... harsh

                                          P.S. was a fanboi ... of both ...
