Initial reports from coach Clayton McMillan werenโt optimistic immediately after the game, and that tone stayed the same on Sunday afternoon as he confirmed the 30-test All Black had sustained an Achilles injury. โIt looks like itโs going to be pretty serious, which is unfortunate not just for us but for him and probably his All Blacks prospects for the immediate future,โ McMillan told Newstalk ZBโs Jason Pine.Most people have been guessing the same 3 hookers. Who should come in assuming ST is out?

Beauden Barrett played his first game of club rugby in 14 years for Coastal. Does anyone know if he came on to play First Five or Fullback?

I've no idea if the NRL rumours are true, but yeah, he hasn't played much. Thompson will be in the 23 next week and in the Mฤori squad too (with Eklund).

Played ten in Japan, mostly, as far as I can gather

I find it interesting because he has so much more upside than Slater.
I know Thompson also has issues with throwing but he is a much bigger body.

Agree. I'm puzzled as well. Slater has throwing issues too - the Chiefs didn't win any of his first 3 lineout throws.

I reckon Jack Taylor is the best "prospect" of the young fellas I've seen this year. Not sure why Bell is preferred at the Highlanders really.

Agree re throwing but didn't notice his contact work was abysmal. Very disappointing season for sure. Weird because he has been better and was a standout in the under age stuff. I liken him to Hotham, except he has yet to show he might have a future at Super level.

I hear the plan is to bring some younger players in to camp to train at times looking to future selections, keeping them up to speed.

Yeah I meant struggling with an injury, not struggling with the game itself!
