they have 4 yellow and a red all for high or no arm tackles...then get in a big prayer circle in the end i assume to ask for forgiveness? ....and are now whinging all over socials about being victims
I fucking hate that attitude.
A club I AR'd a few weeks back were total fluffybunnies against our guys, but besides a bit of shit directed at me at the end of the match, it was all onfield so I didn't hear it and couldn't report it. That plus the cannanball tackles at knees, swinging arms, shoulder charges.
Basically they're pointing at the ref and telling him he's fucked to his face and he did NOTHING about it. And I knew at that point, even if I heard something, it wasn't going to matter because the ref wasn't going to do shit. One of our blokes later told me a player on the other side said "this ref's a useless fluffybunny and that AR is a fluffybunny as well" to his face.
I call the Comp Administrator - they say to email them the details, which I did, and nada.
On the weekend I get a request from someone who played the same fluffybunnies on Saturday to send through my report as they've decided - surprise, surprise - to be a bunch of fluffybunnies again.
Now that it happened to an eastern suburbs club it is suddenly an issue. But when a western sydney club like me reports it? Fuck. All.

And I'm going into judiciary tonight because a ref from the eastern suburbs decided to fuck us 3 different ways two weeks ago.
Why do I bother?
two weeks ago? doesnt have to be done the same week? and a tuesday? clash with training?

Red card was given 21st June but we couldn't make it that week.
On 27th June we got 2 citings based on the ref's report. Executive Director is citing them for Breach Code Of Conduct.
I had the original red card sitting out the 28th but the other guys played as the case hadn't been heard.
and a tuesday? clash with training?
Judiciary is usually Wednesday.
We only train Wednesdays, so not sure if this week is just a special for us.
EDIT: Most of the competition had a bye week for the Tahs v Lions so maybe they figured it was a low chance of other cases to hear.
-
Judiciary outcome:
-
The guy who got the red card in the match was given a caution. Good. It was a shit decision to start with and only slightly high in terms of tackle. A fucking moron could have seen that - except the ref we had was special.
-
The first guy to get cited for a Code of Conduct breach post-match got 2 weeks. Big Fijian guy who looks intimidating at the best of times, so that's probably a win.
-
Last guy is TBC - the ref claims he called him a name after the game. We maintain he was calling someone else a name and that it was misconstrued.
-
-
TBH after all that - and a fluffybunny of a week being sick and trying to put together this shit - I think we're winning.
However it boiled my fucking piss when one of the lawyer types sitting on the Judiciary for the Fijian bloke picked up the stat dec I printed out and said to him "Are these your words?"
Oh hello casual racism. Took you long enough... like 60 seconds

Ah that's why they moved it: Origin + Brumbies/Lions

bit of a shit weekend
started off with no one putting their hand up to be the ground marshal so went down early to fill in at least until the 1st grade game
we have the new coach this year, started as one of the 2nd grade coaches but had a bit of a falling out and so moved down to help 3rd grade, hes also helped cover our colts games when needed. he was new this year so have tried to explain how things work and in general hes been dismissive. ive asked if he can do the rugby explorer app a couple of times (colts and 3rd grade) and both times "thats not my job, im just hear to coach" before actually turning his back and walking away
Ive also had to tell him a few times he cant go under the posts after a try is scored and coach during the game, or run water and coach....he does it anyway and brushes me off
so....sat, already running around sorting things and so a bit flustered, 3's are running out and hes walking behind them with a ball...'is that your match ball?"....looks at it like its the first time..."nah"....."where is your matchball?"....i dont know, thats not my job".....FFS....i run and get them a couple of balls
during the game, he goes down and coaches under the posts....the 4th offical reminds me hes not allowed....i agree and tell him again...brushed off...4th offical says he make a note in his match report...
after the game he comes up to me...starts explain "hes new"...."he doesnt know how thing worK"....not expecting me to completely unload on him...cue him going and having a winge to the director of rugby about people having in in for him
we also went on to lose 1s with a penalty as the final play of the game...and after the final whistle a group of bloke start chanting "fuck the House"...."fuck this and thats "...proper agressive....so as the bloody ground marshal i have to go and tell them they won, go and celebrate rather than abusing people after the game....to be met with "we dont care"..."what you going to do"....good point, not much i can do other than that
all in all just a bit shit
and now this coach has said he needs to "step back"...new jobs or something, this weekend will be his last game, wasn't there weekend just gone, said he was sick...cant help but feel ive scared him off so feel a bit shit, we need coaches

That's the sad truth - volunteers or even paid coaches aren't just lying around.
Our First Grade coach is a lawyer (but wasn't always - swapped careers later in life) and can get fired up as per his performance at the Judiciary last night.
He's had a couple of warnings via ref reports - nothing personal or abusive.
Bloke from another club, backed by a very large sports organisation including a licenced venue, said "just put together a package and get someone new". Yeah sure mate. I don't even have $2k lying around to just pay someone. You've got pokies and old boys living on the water in Sydney!
-
@NTA decided to eat some humble pie and flicked him a message to apologise....would rather have someone who annoys me that no one, at least given him the option to come back with "new job didn't take as much time as i thought" if he wants

Nothing wrong with being the bigger man.
We had one of our Life Members get antsy with the players on the day we got that red card and had the other fallout. Parading around with the "I'm a Life Member and Major Sponsor of this club - he can't speak to me like that!" which is unhelpful.

About 40 players out on the weekend. Had to forfeit 2s.
Fourteen of them front row.So guess who played a full game* at tight head prop for first grade? This dumb fuck...
The guy opposite me was half my age and twice my size, but I managed to hold him off mostly thanks to my Fijian second rower and bringing the big bastard down low where he was very uncomfortable. I reckon our scrum gave away about 200kg.
We lost 76 to 5 but scored the last try.
*The ref - who I know - mercifully called it off with 6 to go

#clublegend
bit of drama around melbourne, one club has got some success on the back of...to be delecate....a direct and uncompromising style....but it has become a thing that players would rather forfeit and chip in for the fine than play them and get injured (jobs, family etc)....thts how bad its got, almost gauanteed if you play these guys someone will get a season ender
two weeks in a row they have had their first grade called of 20mins early as the score have either blown out (+100 - 0 or the other team had too many injuries)....but they now scream fowl about the nasty rumours and accusations....and that they havent been able to rake up more points
its wild, two teams have dropped out of 3rd grade and one of those might even drop out of second grade

Funniest thing - we're playing white boys this weekend and everyone who had the flu or was otherwise sick last week against the big Pasifika club is now available...
...funny that.....
anyway, tops of the table clash friday night....nervous...excited....
-
@Kiwiwomble as the coach said to me just now on the phone: call the Health Department - we've got a pandemic of 1-day man flu going on.

Last try wins.

In Sydney Rugby this week:
7 Matches forfeited across Womens, Premier, and Subbies
Another 8 games in Subbies alone don't have referees.
In the meantime, there are 18 schools games that are getting officials appointed. And people wonder why I keep saying schools are fucking the game up.
