Cant find an appropriate thread, so please merge if there is one.

Looks like NZ rugby need a new sponsor

Big balls taking on someone who will just tie you up in courts even if you're in the right.

    Thoughts?

At what point does Mark Robinson's position become untenable?

How many things has he messed up since taking over for Tew?

Let's burn all of the Ineos rugby kit!!

I'm not a fan of the man so would never buy any AB gear with that logo on it.

its hard to know...he's got a few issues around the place, with dropping a billion on Man U to be closer to relegation than winning, breaking up of the Americas cup team....he'll either think he cant afford to lose any more money and fight till the end...or just want it to go away

“Having learned of INEOS’ decision to walk away three years early, we have moved to protect the interests of New Zealand Rugby and the wider game. We have been left with no option but to launch legal proceedings to protect our commercial position.”

is that a typo? the learnt of their intention to walk away three YEARS earlier?

@bayimports oh....ok, that make more sense

so AIG was one of the financial institutes that received a bailout whilst giving their board bonus', a bit of bad press

The billionaire owner of French construction company Altrad, was handed an 18-month suspended jail term after being found guilty of corruption in connection with the company’s sponsorship of the French national team

and now this....we just attract sponsors trying to sports wash themselves basically

i wonder what their argument is for not paying...a legal dispute does need some vague defence

How is Robinson responsible for INEOS not paying money? Genuine question, if you booted any CEO because a company they has agreement with didn't come up with coin, I imagine there wouldn't be many CEOs lasting long.

If they did a due diligence they'd see he's got buckets of cash. He just doesn't want to give us what he owes

Ultimately it's on NZR/Robinson who they engage with as sponsors

Optically this is a terrible look.

I never said you would boot the CEO for this matter alone - if this was an isolated incident that would be one thing but Mark Robinson's track record is not great.

It is understood that the collapse of the deal did not come as a shock to NZ Rugby, and that INEOS will claim it didn’t deliver on aspects of the deal, but that the governing body is confident of its legal position.

    Blame foster for that 😉

Yep, but he has for 3 years, pretty sure due diligence doesn't cover people being an arsehole 3 years down the track. He's done the same to Ben Ainslie's America's cup team too. And seems is stuffing up Man United ?

I have no idea what is happening with the Silver Lake deal but it would be nice to know?

Deal is done, SL own a part of NZR commercial and get money each year based on income (not profit).

If you mean 'what are SL doing to enhance the value of NZR commercial'? Fuck knows, looks like nothing at all

im starting to think the SL was more simple than i thought...that what they were bring to the party other than money was minor...they gave us some money now....to get a share of commercial income down the track...and we almost certainly got screwed over

For an establishment that really relies on being in the public eye in a positive light and being transparent, they've been the complete opposite under Robinson. Fuck him off
