Few Kiwis picked up at the IPL auction overnight.
Jacob Duffy (Royal Challengers Bangalore) went for $380,000 and Zac Foulkes (Chennai Super Kings) for $143,000)
Rachin Ravindra and Finn Allen are heading to Kolkata Knight Riders, Matt Henry to Chennai Super Kings and Kyle Jamieson to Dehil Capitals. Tim Seifert got picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders for $280,000 & Adam Milne to Rajasthan Royals for $460,000 which was above his base price.Kiwis who went unsold were Conway, Michael Bracewell, Daryl Mitchell, Tim Robinson, Muhammed Abbas, Nathan Smith & Ben Sears.

Tim Seifert with a century opening the batting for the Renegades this evening.
-
Mahomes torn ACL.
GB Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons also suffered a torn ACL in their loss to Denver.
-
Chiefs officially eliminated from playoff contention this year after 16-13 loss at home to the Chargers and wins by the Bills, Texans & Jaguars. To rub salt into the wound, Mahomes went down with what looked like a serious knee injury late in the game.
On another note, Philip Rivers is back in the NFL. His first start in 1800 days.
-
Rhys Mariu just scored another hundred opening the batting for Canterbury.
Pressure is mounting on Conway & the selectors surely. -

Kristian Clarke the next man up if Jamieson not ready to go. Dunno who they call into the squad next if Jamieson isn't available - a quick look at this season's plunket shield has Josh Clarkson as the top seamer through the first couple of rounds, but based on what I've seen of his bowling he's probably a bit too much of a dibbly-dobbler to be effective in tests.
Sounds like they may go with an extra spin option for the next test at Bay Oval. Ajaz Patel has been mentioned.

Too many injuries in the fast bowling stocks. Matt Fisher hasn't been playing for ND, so wasn't an option either.
They could have bought someone like Kristian Clarke in. He was bought into the squad earlier in the season due to injuries but didn't get a go. These conservative type selections are just nonsense. These young guys like Kristian and Rhys Mariu are the future why not give them a shot against the Windies?

Australian Open update
Fox underway in Round 2 currently sitting =3
Dan Hillier also underway in Round 2 sitting =7
Kazuma Kobori has some work to do if he wants to make the cut. He is =105 -
Thought once Stead went so would have the conservative selections but alas here we are. Why is Larsen still there as a selector?

All these years since his win at Pinehurst and still amazing that he beat Tiger Woods in his prime.

Australia XI for first Test: Usman Khawaja, Jake Weatherald, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith (c), Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Brendan Doggett, Scott Boland

Josh Hazelwood is out of the first Ashes Test: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cwy7z7xjep1o
Probably means a likely debut for Brendan Doggett
-
Test quicks Starc and Hazlewood playing for NSW v Victoria who have Scott Boland. Lyon and Smith also in the NSW side.
Alex Carey & Travis Head playing for South Australia. Marnus for QLD
All the Aussie test squad except Khawaja are playing in the current round of Sheffield Shield that's underway. -
Hillier seems to have a few issues closing it out. A couple of weeks back he blew up big time when he had the lead in the final round. Last night didnt go too well down the homestretch either. Still another decent finish from him T5
Kobori looked decent early in the tournament but couldnt keep up with some pretty hot scoring.
Yeah and I think that is the difference between the best players and the next group when the pressure is on. The double bogey on the back nine shook his confidence. Still he pocketed $600k for his T5, Hopefully he can get a good result in the Tour Championship starting Thursday.
-
Daniel Hillier currently in the outright lead at -24 through 11 holes.
Fleetwood, McIlroy behind him in 2nd and fourth respectively -
Black Caps falling apart here after being on target for a decent total.

I can't for the life of me understand why the coaches/selectors are persisting with Beauden.
If he is just the stop gap measure until Richie Mounga returns next year why are they not just giving a young first five a chance? They've really got nothing to lose by trying someone else at 10. Once Richie is back are they really going to have him, BB & McKenzie in the same squad? What sort of message does that give to a player like Love?
